I doubt if it it draws very much at all, just a small solenoid.

Why are you measuring how hot the solenoid gets??? It's right next to the exhaust manifold..............................................

I installed one on my tudor indent f/wall about 5 yrs ago. Only problem I've had was with it sticking when turned on. Remove disassemble and clean, re-install. I do use MMO and StaBil regularly,...
