Question front motor mount

I'm installing the motor in my 29 model A, and now the motor sits a little high, and now I see the springs that the yoke sits on are compressed all the way and the flange of the yoke is not touching...

pedal shaft on 29 model A

Does anyone know if the pedal shaft is pressed into the bell housing or have any advice on replacing the shaft with the motor still in the car
