Follow-up to wheels/races question...
What is purpose of the inner/outer races of wheel hubs/bearings? Stability? If wheel hub fits snugly on inner/outer bearings and there is no play, what is function of races?

Wheel bearings and races
Am confused about races and wheel bearings for my '28 Roadster. Suppliers sell races for wheels but Les Andrews Volume I does not indicate any races in the drawings on pages 1-361 and 1-362....
