If everything is in decent condition and the terrain is reasonable it will work great. I often start with 2.23 gearing and just a bit of clutch slip makes it simple. The 3.31 should be even better.

It depends. If the engine is new, 10-30 is appropriate. If well used 20-50 would be a good choice. It is a good practice to change regularly at about 1000 miles.

Ted hit the most obvious problem--if the coolant cannot pass through the cores with adequate flow rates the top tank will fill and actually become slightly pressurized and coolant will be expelled...
