Re: Speedway Vintage Wheels

I have a pair of Wheel Vintiques Gennie's on my '40... Stock hubcaps fit just as well as they do on the original wheels.

Re: Manifold vacuum at idle... vs without...interesting observations

OK, so this discussion has raised my curiosity and I went out and grabbed a couple of non-Ford carb/intakes off the shelf. First one was the stock intake from a '62 Cad with the steel vacuum line...

Re: Manifold vacuum at idle... vs without...interesting observations

Just didn't know if you had modified the carb... you were way ahead of me on that.

Re: Manifold vacuum at idle... vs without...interesting observations

So... what about the Fords '57 and up that used ported vacuum? That wasn't done to reduce emissions... and all the other 50s' and 60's engines GM and Chrysler that used ported vacuum? In that era the...

Re: How To Remove Cosmoline

For aircraft brake rotors in cosmoline we always used Avgas; sometimes it had to soak for a week or so on parts that had been coated for 70+ years.

Re: Manifold vacuum at idle... vs without...interesting observations

You say you are using the...

Re: Hagerty insurance ?

I've had Hagerty for over 20 years; reasonable premiums and have been good to work with, though I've never had to make a claim.

A friend has also had Hagerty for years and has made at least two...

Re: Adapting An OE Gas Tank Sender Unit

I did that last fall when I adapted a K-S sender into the TANKS poly tank in my '40. Not hard to do with a piece of alum. plate, a hole-saw and the correct counter-sinks. Worst part was making a new...

Re: Ford Shock Absorber Fluid

I've topped mine off with Liquid Wrench Hydraulic Jack Oil; says it's good for hydraulic jacks and refillable shock absorbers. Has worked well so far... I think just about any hydraulic jack oil...

Re: Drake Free Shipping:

Thanks Ryan... it seems that every time the word "Drake" comes up here it turns into the same old discussion. I've got a LOT of Drake parts in my '40 and yes, I've had to wait to get some of them....

Re: 1940 Brake Bleeding

I'll second what Talkwrench said... I installed a set of speed bleeders on my 40 and they worked great! Took about 10 mins. to get the brakes bled, and not having to listen to the wife, girlfriend or...

Re: 33 Tranny to Driveshaft Oil Leak

And I'll have to agree to disagree about this. Yes, you would get some oil leakage past the stock rear bearing with a shield which isn't going to hurt anything; as long as you maintain the oil level...

Re: 33 Tranny to Driveshaft Oil Leak

Re: Identify this engine.

Answer to the first question is not really.

SOME late flatheads have a date code stamped on top of the block by the intake manifold; but that's about it. Most of the numbers you find on these...
