I do the opposite, I fill them to the very top and add stabilizer / Seafoam.

I have a pole barn to keep my car collection in. It is 80 by 200 feet, used to be a rodeo arena. Can’t beat it until you try to heat it.

You can buy one in that shape but black color at your Ford dealer. It is an assist handle for the newer pickup trucks. .

It seems like your captain is causing problems. Get rid of her and get a captain that is a little easier to get along with. Captains are over rated.
