Re: exhaust manifolds

Actually, I don't think they came as a "set". They made caps for the front of the passenger side exhaust manifold. If you look at a stock 8BA passenger side exhaust manifold, it looks like it would...

Re: gas line

I totally agree with Bill. leaking power valves on older Holleys has become very common since the introduction of the slightly different Holley 4 BBL power valves. They look the same and screw right...

Re: exhaust manifolds

I really like the aftermarket "speed parts" with California locations cast into them. Obviously there is the Eddie Meyer stuff with "Hollywood" cast in. I also have a Navarro Universal dual intake...

Re: 49 Ford F1 project. What am I getting into?

After the clutch, I wouldn't trust a thing that was done so far.

Time to start from scratch.

Re: Dehumidifier

I have one as well. When I had my shop built, I added a large mezzanine. The wood had a lot of moisture in it, and the dehumidifier ran almost constantly the first two years. Now, it runs only when...

Re: Introduction to my 50 fordor

Make sure you pressure test the block for cracks before starting the rebuild. Not doing so can be an expensive mistake.

I had a '51 Fordor in high school; it got me hooked on "shoeboxes". Yours is...

Re: tachometer for 1934 ford

Did it come with any instructions? Probably not, so it might help to know the make and model of the tachometer. Someone here may have some tucked away somewhere. It would also help to know if it an...

Re: Best spark plug

A lot of people like NGK's, but I've never had a problem with Champions.

It is kind of a pain buying 8 individual "lawn mower plugs" instead of a box of 10 like in the old days. BTW, does anyone...

Re: Overdrive transmissions

This will probably work fine if you use the right combination of parts from the respective transmissions (gears from the non-overdrive transmission will probably go right in). There are some problems...

Re: 41 Distributor Helmet Style - Dwell

I found my purchase, but the pertinent information is long gone. When I clicked on "Purchase Similar", this is what came up. I'm sure some of them would work, but they appear to be a little spendy (I...

Re: 41 Distributor Helmet Style - Dwell

Most powered dwell meters are 12 volt negative ground and won't work on an old Ford. (I know; I tried.) I bought an old, non-powered dwell meter off eBay and it works perfectly. You just don't get a...

Re: Replacing points on 39 Ford

I completely agree with these guys; electronic conversions are not the panacea they seem to at first glance. Learn about your car and stick to a points ignition. In the long run, you'll be glad you...

Re: king pin replace

Your best chance for that is getting them from one of the guys on here that have NOS parts. I would recommend Third Gen Automotive ("35fordtn" on here) or SouthSide Obsolete ("barnfind08" on this...

Re: Overdrive transmissions

Van Pelt Sales is a good place to find transmission parts. There are other sources that I am sure will be recommended by the members here. As to swapping gears, I don't think that will fly. A change...

Re: Overdrive transmissions

The only transmissions that will fit without modifications are '49-'50. The '51 looks a lot like them and has the clutch boss, but the mount has been relocated further forward, so it's not a bolt in....

Re: 34 tool storage?

Back in the late '60's, I bought a complete, original (but very rusty) '34 sedan delivery. It turned out to be too much for me, so I sold it to someone more qualified. Before I sold it, I found a...

Re: Does Anyone Know What This Is?

Not so fast; maybe he likes the crop reports and foreign language stations so common on AM radio these days. I even found one up here in Minnesota that plays Mexican music that sounds like "Old-Time"...

Not 2020, but here's one of my old '36 3-window with some glorious Minnesota fall foliage about 25 years ago.

Re: Autolite Spark Users Only

An "Air/Fuel" meter will tell you the ratio of fuel to air in the intake charge (generally around 14:1) by analyzing the engines exhaust. They essentially need two inputs; 12 volts to power them and...
