So thanks to the supplied info I managed to get 2 pumps apart.
One was stubborn- Pump impeller broke so cut and split to remove.
The other managed to break piece off impeller trying to remove...

Thanks very much. It would appear I was doing it incorrect." Arse about face" as we say down under.
The pictures certainly help.As want to ensure nothing is broken in the process.

Have a coupe of 51 Merc Water Pumps for rebuilding.
These have the circlip just behind the impeller.
