Re: Steering box grease?

We don't use grease. Opened a couple that had been greased and it was all caked around the casing and nothing was on the actual gears. Cornhead may be different. Don't use it. We use 600W which we...

Re: Harbor Freight

They can be pretty powerful. I once sat at a light and watch some fellow trying to light his cigarette with the lens on his glasses. He was pretty shaky and the light changed before I could see if...

Re: Engine Number Help

Hey send that engine back home to us.

Most likely an old restamp when they couldn't find a VIN. The state would do that years ago when the motor had the serial. Now they issue a special tag with...

Re: Truck

Hard to say from the pictures, they used that squared off body style into 1930.

Re: Napa Auto Parts

I agree, but when it's Sunday afternoon and you find out you need a part NAPA is there (if they have it).

Re: Gremlins in the wiring

Mister Moose, I hate those Gremlins. This, because it's intermittent, may take some time to solve, but it's just electricity and it follows the rules. The Gremlin will show itself (soon I hope).

Re: Another weekend and more head scratchers

Shut down the fuel before you turn it off and let it idle until the fuel in the line is gone. Once you hear it start to slow down, shut off the key. Try that to see if it helps.

Also, have you...

Re: Help identifying the vehicle

Thinking it's a late 30 or 31. They used the square cabs until into 1930. Others will know more.

Model A Plug and Head Nut Wrench

I'm looking for one in descent shape, not restored, just not all buggered up on the working flats. It's a gift for my brother. Lots of Model T's out there and they are too small. Need one that is...

Re: Transmission bearings

Getting bearings anywhere is a gamble. Most I see on ebay are not boxed so we don't know. I can only assume the "new" bearings are the chinese trash. I'm still pulling that tranny slowly, but in my...

Re: Dropping the pan , recent You Tube .

Well, at least he's out there posting information and getting people interested in the hobby. My bet is that he did pull out the dipper tray, just didn't show it. I learned a lot from this video and...

Re: Oil interval

I change it between 500 and 600 miles. Not that the oil is worn out, just because, without a filter or air cleaner (don't run one), I think it's dirty and I don't want that dirt in my engine.

Re: Transmission bearings

These came from a different vendor and, to be fair, he told me what they were when I bought them. I took a chance and lost. Can't blame the vendor. I have some that are from Europe that the vendor,...

Re: Transmission bearings

Mullet,
It was noise in the tranny. Came in all of a sudden. Rattled it home and into the shop. Pulling it tomorrow night (I hope).

Re: Transmission bearings

Thanks Tom, I saw this last year and couldn't find the good bearings so I got and installed what I could find. This is the result. Touring season and the touring car is down.

I'm hunting for...

Transmission bearings

I replaced the 7118 and 7121 bearings in my transmission with the current production bearings from a major parts supplier. They were the Chinese bearings. 1,200 miles later they failed. Looking for...

Re: what kind of grease gun are you using?

Lincoln pneumatic and Lucas Red and Tacky, except for the wheel bearing zerks and the water pump. With four A's in the family the air gun saves some time on the lube day production line.

Re: Steering arms

Are you looking for Spindle Arms with new balls put on? We tried to find some last winter and there is one place in the US doing them. They use an original and mount new balls. The place doing the...
