seeking photo: T descends steep embankment

I've seen a period photo -- maybe even a film clip -- of a Model T descending an impossibly steep bank of a creek bed (?).

The suspension is twisted and contorted in a way that really displays the...

wanted: 40 standard hood ornament

I need a '40 Standard hood ornament for cheap (~$25). Condition unimportant as long as the main casting is still in one piece. Tony (310) 831-1216 or [email protected]

Re: '42-'48 Convertible windshield gasket

The Carpenter catalog lists only one seal for '42-48 with chrome, both convertible and closed car, and that's the one I bought (Not disputing you, Supereal, just recounting my experience).

Drake...

Re: '42-'48 Convertible windshield gasket

Thanks, Paul. I am aware that there are two different gaskets, and I'm pretty certain that the one we have is correct for the stainless trim -- the three grooves would be (1) glass, (2) pinch weld,...

Re: '42-'48 Convertible windshield gasket

This mystery is not yet solved. I posted this picture a while back, illustrating the way we were trying to install the stainless in the gasket:...

Re: '42-'48 Convertible windshield gasket

Our windshield stainless project has not gone well. Here's the '42 convertible from which we took the dimensions used to construct our windshield frame. Notice the appearance of the stainless:

Re: 41-48 windshield divider bar: ignorant question

I do understand (roughly) the windshield construction of a '40 convert, but that is irrelevant to my vehicle.

Mine started out as a '40 coupe, but the top that we've built is intended to replicate...

Re: 41-48 windshield divider bar: ignorant question

Sorry, guys, but this still is not crystal clear. I think I get that there are a total of THREE pieces; the outer stainless piece (shown on the left in meric's post above) has an inner part with...

Re: 41-48 windshield divider bar: ignorant question

Whoops -- here's where I'm confused. I've seen the inner piece with the threaded inserts. Is that considered to be part of the stainless cover, and is the painted inner piece then the THIRD part to...

Re: 41-48 windshield divider bar: ignorant question

So, to clarify for me, the painted piece is the actual divider bar, and there's a stainless cover on the outside -- there's no more than that. Right?

The stainless pieces that wrap around each...

41-48 windshield divider bar: ignorant question

I am missing this bar entirely for my phantom convertible (the car is a '40 Ford, but the top is a faux '42-'48 convertible). I'm not clear if the original part is in two or three pieces, including...

'42-'48 Convertible windshield gasket

I find that Carpenter lists a gasket with part # 11A-7003110-B, while Drake shows # 21A-7603110. Both are supposed to be for '42-'48 Ford cars with stainless inserts.

As some of you know, my car...

Re: '39 Stainless side trim -- Drake vs Carpenter?

Whoops, I missed this one. Sold the day it was listed, apparently.

Re: '39 Stainless side trim -- Drake vs Carpenter?

I would think so, but Drake shows different numbers:

91A-7720934 Cvt Cpe RH
91A-7720935 Cvt Cpe LH
91A-7020934 Tudor RH
91A-7020935 Tudor LH

...and in the online catalog, the prices are $40...

Re: '39 Stainless side trim -- Drake vs Carpenter?

I didn't say anything about a Fordor. I presume that the curve of the quarter trim is similar between a convert and a coupe, although the convert would be shorter at the front by the 6" difference in...

Re: '39 Stainless side trim -- Drake vs Carpenter?

Thanks for the advice. Because my car has sedan doors, I shouldn't have a problem there -- although I still don't understand how the 2dr sedan and convertible door trims are different. My quarters...

Re: '39 Stainless side trim -- Drake vs Carpenter?

Yes, I would consider buying gennie parts. I had imagined that original '39 trim would be a bit scarce, and would of course involve additional expense for polishing. From your comment I guess it's...

Re: '39 Stainless side trim -- Drake vs Carpenter?

This is certainly an important consideration. Anyone else have any specific experience on this point, and does the sharpness of the vee differ among the various vendors' products?

Since my car is...

Re: '39 Stainless side trim -- Drake vs Carpenter?

Thanks, Swoop. I should have specified that the DOOR trim is the one that mystified me. Two different prices and part numbers from Drake; Carpenter shows the same for both.

I don't know about...

'39 Stainless side trim -- Drake vs Carpenter?

I plan to use '39 side trim on my phantom '40 convert (shown in post #19 of this thread: http://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=122229).

Both Drake and Carpenter offer repop stainless for...

Re: 53 vic tires

I have 215-75R/15s on my '51 Vic, and 205-75R/15s on my '56. Both of my cars, and probably yours, came with 670-15s. The 205s are the usually recommended equivalent for 670, and I think 215s are a...

Re: 1939 cowl mirror??

Many thanks! This is the car in question, obviously still in process. It was originally a derelict '40 Std coupe:
