I took out a couple of the rear leaves from my 30 coupe years ago to soften the ride. It did soften the ride some with no apparent side effects.

For what it's worth NADA considers an A with a rumble to be worth more than one with a trunk. Believe it or not the NADA website has a classic car section that values most of the Model A body styles...
