Re: Upper Front floorboard reinforcements?

The dowel is not reinforcing the joint as much as it is reinforcing the top wooden board where 2 deep notches have been cut into them. The narrow rectangular pieces to the left of the clutch pedal...

Re: Zenith carburetor

It's a Z.

Manufactured by Zenith (H for Holly and no mark for Ford if it's a Zenith-3).

Zenith was the design holder for the carburetor, but they licensed it out to be manufactured by others to...

Re: 29 standard phaeton belt rails

A photo would help, holding the wooden pieces up where you are considering mounting them.

Re: Model T & Model A Show at the Beardsley Cider Mill

It might be. You can't tell from this angle. You need a photo of the rear quarter.

Re: Town Car

It is hard to tell a real Town Car from a "made one up from a Fordor Sedan" Town Car replica, unless you look at it from the back. It is pretty easy to make the rest of the car look correct.

Look...

Re: Model T & Model A Show at the Beardsley Cider Mill

Town Car, not Town Sedan.

I run into this a lot.

A lady called me because her dead husband had left a Town Car in their garage. She did some internet searching and found reference to how rare...

Re: Town Car

There were 96 Town Cars made in 1930 (Great Depression beginning to hit).

They made 1,013 Town Cars in 1929 (peak year of the Roaring 20's boom).

They made 89 in 1928 (ramping up production).

Re: model A airplane carburetor?

Yes, I believe so.

See original page number 1772b (file page n39) of the magazine "Aviation Week" in the link below. They refer to fitting a Stromberg NA-R3 carburetor (same as the data plate on...

Re: Finding a nice Model A

Have a paint shop do a computer scan of the existing paint that want to match.

Do a test spray with that to confirm the match.

No paint code or formula will match existing old, aged paint....

Re: Finding a nice Model A

Not the bodies, only the fenders, splash apron, etc., beneath the body.

Andalusite Blue was available for many body styles in '28/'29. It is a very dark blue, almost black. It looks black when not...

Re: Evans waterless coolant

No, it does not. You have a problem.

It's primarily propylene glycol, the same as Sierra coolant.

Re: 1929 TwoLite headlamps w/ LED turn signals

The main difference is the brightness of the two. Parking Light is only about 3 cp. Not too bright. Turn Signals need to be bright, like 32 cp or so.

I have seen turn signal controllers that...

Re: 1929 TwoLite headlamps w/ LED turn signals

I agree with you about the cold blue light from the focused LED headlights, I don't like it. I prefer the warm white of the incandescent bulbs. But I like to see, and you can't beat the light beam...

Re: 1929 TwoLite headlamps w/ LED turn signals

Joe, you raise some good points!

1. If you want the second socket inside the headlight reflector to serve as both Parking Light and Turn Signal bulb, you need to rewire it with a 2-filament bulb...

Re: 1929 TwoLite headlamps w/ LED turn signals

Here's a video of what the LED amber turn signal bulbs look like in the spot you ask about. They also serve as a 3 cp amber parking light bulb there. This is a 12 volt neg. grd. car.

Re: Fluted Headlight lenses?

The TwoLite system was rolled out starting in Feb. 1929, so that's when the fluted lenses started to go away. I have seen flutes on cars made as late as March 1929.

It seems to me like the...

Re: 12 volt battery

What do the dimensions look like for a Group 35? And where are the posts on the top of the battery on the 25 vs. the 35? I find the posts on the 25 in an inconvenient place.

Re: Nu Rex ignition switch

This is a great drawing. Very simple.

Note that this is the way Ford originally wired the car. The key switch is installed in the wire that runs from the coil + post (red wire on a stock car) to...

Re: Nu Rex ignition switch

No. What you describe above will not work.

If you want to connect a wire from the junction box to the Batt terminal of the switch, then the second wire coming off of the switch (screw labeled...

Re: 12 volt battery

I have used a Group 35.

You will also need to make it negative ground.

Re: Secondary Well zenith carb

No. This is addressed in the Ford Service Bulletins (pg. 443). The double venturi carb bottom half really needs to use a double venturi.

If you mix the parts up as you propose, you will have a...

Re: Secondary Well zenith carb

If you look carefully at the position and angle of the 2 main jets in the lower carb body half, you can see the difference between the early dual-venturi carb and the later single-venturi carb. There...
