I placed it on TDC and it had jumped a good bit . My grandson and I were trying to start it and it tried to start then made a noise and this was results .

I believe I found my issue, never seen a timing chain so loose you can almost flip it off with a screwdriver.

160,000 but it probably sat for 15 years before I got it 15 years ago and started it back up

Yes I am guilty of not getting it up to operating temperature but once a month if that from just moving in and out of garage. Bet I won’t do that again if i ever get it going.

Thanks for replies I will keep plugs out and try to expel any fluids and go from there with new plugs for sure, haven’t changed in 7 years of not much driving just starting and going around block .

Plug tip was wet and there was smell of gas in oil , when I took top off carburetor bowl and lifted out needle from seat gas shot up out of carburetor as if incoming gas line had more pressure than...

Backing in driveway today felt bump in transmission reverse went out , only 150,000 on truck can’t believe this . Rolled back and has foreword no reverse , best option to have rebuilt or buy rebuilt...

Just replaced my modulator and hose . Started shifting better but still a slight slip from 1 to 2 . Added Lucas oil and Been shifting good since . A cheap way for trial and error .

Hope you got a new key , I took my ignition out of my 60 falcon in about 10 minutes by just pooping the clip off the back of it and pulling out the tumbler .

Thanks so much , I remember the 51 when I was a child , I was born in 58 and my parents drove that car until 66 when it stopped running . It sat a little while and a man came over and worked on it...

I don't have a very technical answer but , I had old hard felt in my tracks so I replaced runners and made sure the bottom glass mechanism was lined back up so years of trying to roll up the window...

Thanks for the replies, I will look at wiring and see about upsizing and try to spot other issues I may cause with alternator. Several friends recommended a new one wire alternator but have not...

Have 3 good alternator and several brackets to make work , but I have 2 rebuilt original generator. The only adds I will be doing is electric wipers instead of vacuum and up grade headlights.

Generator to alternator swap
Thinking about swapping my generator to an alternator while I have motor out of my 60 falcon . What components would I need to change from factory generator set up ? Worth the trouble?
