Re: Throw out bearing lubrication

Its always good to hear that problems are fixed, even if they don't seem to make sense.

Re: Source for epoxy-filled 6 volt coil ?

Anything can fail at any time. Coils included.

I just went thru something similar with condensers. 5 bad ones which some said couldn't happen. The 'burn-proof' maker must have had a bad batch.

Re: Throw out bearing lubrication

As RC mentioned, that bearing should not be spinning with the pedal all the way up/released.

If it is then adjust the free-play to 1.5", and try it again.

Most release bearings today are...

Re: New engine - intermittent backfiring - stuck valve?

Haven't read all the comments, sooo,,,,

Try loosening the fuel cap if it hasn't been mentioned or you haven't done it.

Re: Help diagnosing engine knock

If you want to check the clearance between head, gasket and piston, just use some modeling clay.

Re: Generator Charging

Charge rate shouldn't change with an original cut-out. If a regulator is installed then it will change.

Re: 1930 Model A Gears Grind After New Clutch Install

I'm going to say no, but, I've learned to never say never. Some folks seem to be able to do the impossible. :)

Re: Generator Charging

If you can't set the output low enough [ 2-4 amps lights off at fast idle/ slow cruise speed] then I'd recommend checking voltage output. These generators can produce 20+ volts if there is a poor...

Re: 1930 Model A Gears Grind After New Clutch Install

Why was the clutch replaced ?
Are you now able to shift from neutral into any gear without grinding ?
How much pedal free-play is there ?
Were the pressure plate fingers checked/adjusted prior to...

Re: spark Advance

Well I'd like to hear the reason too. They probably don't mean to do it, they just forget, or don't know. It can start from improper base timing as some seem to have trouble with that.

Re: Generator Charging

No, its not normal. When I say fast idle I mean around in the 1000-1500 RPM range.
The charge rate should not go that high.

Re: Generator Charging

You failed to mention the fast idle charging rate after adjusting the third brush. Set it to a few amps if you drive mostly during the day, a little higher for at night. It really shouldn't be set...

Yep, in each vehicle, motorbikes, airplane, house and shop. Have not had to use them.
This reminds to look at the dates.

Re: Paint recommendations

There is a lot of info for you to wade thru. My preference, which is worth just what you pay for it, is single stage on an old car.

Re: Distribution block for 6 volt

In addition to the Bratton fuse block, any local auto parts store should have one for about $10.

Re: spark Advance

Actually late timing will increase combustion temps. Advance in the mid-30's is just fine.

After being rear ended I changed to LED rears along with a third stop light mounted on the spare.

Re: Taillight bulbs

As Jim said, there is no need to convert the rears to 2 filament bulbs.

For the fronts the parks or cowls can be used. And if they are to used as intended as well as turns then they need to be...
