Re: Weber carburetor & fuel pressure question.

I think your problems are more to do with the leaking manifold gasket than the fuel pump.

Re: sign of the times

The great Italian racing driver of the 1920s, Nuvolari grew tired of refining the car his team gave him to use only to have it taken from him at the last moment and given to his "team mate". In an...

Re: Well used A

I recently saw a sign on the back of a Model A which read "Save the planet. Drive a car that will last 100 years."
IMO, that is a perfect answer to those who criticise us.

Re: "New Engine" Balancing"

I thought being "unbalanced" was a requirement for taking part in this hobby.

Re: cam lube

I believe Henry burnished the bearings in his motors by driving them with an electric motor. They knew when the job was done by watching the current being drawn by each motor. Only then were they run.

Re: Henry Ford Line 1

They did. Canadians I know say that Robertson disliked Americans so didn't allow any American manufacturer to use his screws. That remained the case till a guy by the name of Philips came along, they...

Re: New Coupe

My advice is "Don't work on more than say, four things at a time." That way, you will be able to keep track of what is happening and where they are. Once an item is done, put it aside and start...

Re: sign of the times

I've driven RHD cars for so long, I can't imagine how I would go changing gears with my right hand. Might as well put the accelerator on the left. At least that is a constant.

Re: cam lube

I've always thought the same thing about assembly lube being a temporary resident of the camshaft (or any bearing) but I figure it will contribute its benefit till the oil came through on the first...

Re: sign of the times

We have all updated our skills as we go. When we were kids, who would have even in their widest dreams imagined that there would be such a thing as the internet yet here we are using it to talk from...

Re: leg room 30 roadster

People were much shorter and no where near as overweight as many are these days so what might appear to be cramped to us was quite roomy for them.

Re: Phaeton top rest question

OK, so now, all I have to do is find some way of getting them. I haven't had an account at Snyders for at least 10 years. When they updated their system, leaving everyone to create a new account, I...

Re: sign of the times

I wonder if the traffic cone in the background is the result of one of those guys driving a manual car.

Re: Engine will not crank

If it were, the driver would hear the starter spinning but there would be action. From the OP, I think he got no action at all which leads me to suspect the pinion is jammed in the ring gear.

Re: Phaeton top rest question

Thanks Jim. I note that some of those components are for a Model T. Did they carry the same design forward through 1928/9?

Re: rebuild speedoeters

I have just installed a "reconditioned" round face speedo in my 1930 CCPU. I don't know who did the job but it is no better accuracy than the one I took out. The previous one read very low, this one...

Re: Model B Block Boss on side of block

Thank you for that picture but what is that thingy on the front of the engine near the generator? The switch on the starter looks to be backwards too.
I wonder whether a vacuum assisted clutch never...

Re: Phaeton top rest question

The silence has been deafening so I guess no one supplies either the top rests or plugs. :(

Re: Blown exhaust gasket and rough idle?

I just fixed one today for a lady friend of mine and my wife's. New copper gaskets properly installed and she couldn't believe how well it went. I was pleased too.
It sounds like your leak is as bad...

Re: charging

IMO, those digital meters are about as useful as fly screen on a submarine. Throw them in the trash.

Re: How many miles should spark plugs last?

The missing one is the one where there is only a hole in the head!!!:)
Seriously, the usual method of shorting out one plug at a time won't work because you are obviously driving (and under load)...
