Re: Peep mirrors

Let's see a picture of the mirror mounted on the car. That will be a big help.

Re: Clutch finger adjustment

Please try to determine if the shift lever is an original or a reproduction before trying to bend it.

The originals can be bent without risking the integrity of the piece. They are one piece...

Re: List of Reproduction "A" Parts That Don't Work

There has been wonderment, for years, as to why nobody makes a fully authentic radiator for a Model A. Probably 25-30 years ago somebody decided to take it upon himself to do so. He finally found a...

Re: Rear end remorse

More information needed.

Did it jam after driving? Or, was it this way as soon as you tried to move it?

If it jammed after driving, yes, suspect the pinion bearings might be too tight.
If it...

Re: Spring Perch install

Lee Mitch, are you only asking about installing new perches? If so, a press is not usually needed.

If you also need to know how to remove original perches, that's where you may need a press, lots...

Re: Do rivet nuts work?

While this would be a "cheap" option, how much is your life worth? Or the life of someone riding with you? What happens to those seats in an accident with only these riv-nuts holding them to the...

Re: Torque Tube Bushing

I agree with RedmodelT that the sleeve does not look fully seated in the torque tube. Have done many of these and have never seen part of sleeve protruding into drive gear opening

Re: Rear brake woes

I noticed you said you turned the adjuster (adjusting wedge) counter-clockwise to its stop. This does not assure the service brake shoes are fully retracted. Once you hit the stop, you need to turn...

Re: Gas Gauge Repairs

Hey, they made it work, didn't they?

Surprised former owner didn't swear to this contraption being original, optional (two floats are better than one), or the rare & very late 31 only gas gauge. ...

Re: drilling on powder coated surface

I agree with Old Blue Oval here. Powder coating not the preferred process on body parts.

That said .............. whether powder coating OR painting, take the time, mount the boards, drill the...

Re: Zenith will flood the engine constantly

Three things to look for in the current parts array................

1. The GAV needle is too short to seat properly in the carb. There have been different length needles depending on the parts...

Re: Stripped Cowl Light Arm on my 28

28/29 cowl light DO NOT mate to the outside of the cowl panel. They go THROUGH the panel (and a grommet) and attach to a reinforcing plate inside the panel. If you try to mate them to the outside of...

Re: Luggage Trunk Bracket

It is possible you have the wrong rear bumper brackets. Originally there were several different lengths. Available reproduction brackets do not represent all the different length variations that were...

Re: will not idle

Too many changes at once. don't start taking a carb apart that you know ran (and idled) well on another car.

Asked before ................. We get that you changed the popout switch assembly. Did...

Re: Failed 6v Coil

Ed, you didn't share where you got the current coil. Model A vendor? NAPA store? Other national franchise? I'd assume most Model A vendors sell the same coil and I have not heard of widespread...

Re: Cluster bearing solution?

I believe that somewhere along the way in this multiyear discussion Don Snyder suggested that his company had remedied the scenario of the poorly manufactured bearings. Wonder if anyone who had...

Re: Cluster bearing solution?

This conversation has gone on for many years and the statements of bearing failures go back that far. (Note the date of the original post of this thread.) Somewhere along the way in this ongoing...

Re: Installing rebuilt rear backing plate

Sounds like you might have the ebrake mounting plate assemblies switched side for side. In other words you might have the passenger side assembly on the driver side of the car (and vice-versa).

Re: Installing rebuilt rear backing plate

Sounds like maybe you have the ebrake mounting plates reversed. They are passenger side and driver side. The tab along the outer rim of the plate where the two ends of the brake band mount should be...

Re: Stalling at Stop Signs

Ed ............. just curious to understand what you mean by "fitting the idle jet to the bottom of the secondary well". How do you propose doing this???

Re: Installing rebuilt rear backing plate

Sounds like you have moved the lever far enough to overcome the high end of the floating cam. You can push it back with some force. It will be much easier to do this if you remove the radius rod and...

Re: Intake manifold bolt loose

These bolts have a tendency to become rusted in place. It's possible someone broke a bolt in the same place previously, drilled it out and/or rethreaded the hole poorly, and the new bolt was never...

Re: Front brake actuating lever sleeve not seating properly in kingpin

The problem is most likely a worn spring perch and/or the perch hole in the axle. If the perch was ever loose and driven that way for a long period, the inward force of the spring arch will start...
