Re: 1931 Pickup Engine Knock

What you are pointing to is babbit. On the bottom of the crank is RTV.

All the dippers are facing the same way which is scooping towards the oil pump.

I did replace the oil pump with a good...

Re: 1931 Pickup Engine Knock

I can't reach out to the engine builder because I don't know who he is. I have found previous owners on Facebook through my wife's account (I don't have one) and messaged them with no response.

Re: Where does your 53 Ford run?

It was hitting but now it's not. I had to run a shorter belt on the fan. The original top tank did not have any over hang but the new Champion radiator from Jegs does. Also I replaced the thermostats...

Re: Where does your 53 Ford run?

Inside the heads don't look terrible. I got the old radiator out today and installed the new radiator. Fan hits it. It sits too...

Re: Where does your 53 Ford run?

I appreciate the response from everyone. When I got off work tonight I drained the radiator and pulled the thermostats. Radiator appears to be clogged in serval cores and both thermostats were 195s....

Re: Rear spring spreader

I used the deluxe version from Snyder's and have no complaints. I don't think safety should be judged at how little of it you can get away with. ...

Re: Where does your 53 Ford run?

I drove the car into work this morning to give one more go and test with a IR gun. I got to work which is a 9 mile drive and she was riding on the tic mark to the right of the wide white bar.

Re: Where does your 53 Ford run?

Tubman I do not know what thermostats is in the car. I work weekends but plan to open it up Monday and find out. I'm a bit nervous to drive the car as is. I'd sure hate to cook that motor. Also my...

Re: Where does your 53 Ford run?

Drove the car in today. The picture is the temp driving in this morning with outside temps in the 70s. When I got off outside temps were mid 90s. I drove to my parents to pick my son up and I checked...

Re: Where does your 53 Ford run?

Tubman I'll see what it does when I turn it off the next time I'm out.

The coolant looks really clean but I did notice there is a 13lb cap on the radiator where I believe it should be running a...

I have a 1953 Ford Customline flathead V8 with a Fordomatic trans and from what I can tell is an original car. The temperature gauge lacks on the details. The picture I'm including is of the tempt...

Re: Holley 94 on 1953 Ford

Update: I got my carb back from Charlie in NY and got it put on today. I did not adjust anything and the car fired right up. No gas smell, no black sooty smoke, just a smooth running flathead. The...

Re: Holley 94 on 1953 Ford

This morning I filled the bowl up to the hole that goes to the pump plunger and in a couple of hours it had gone down over half way.

As recommended by many I got in contact with Charlie NY and...

Re: Holley 94 on 1953 Ford

I pulled the top off of the carb and poured some fuel in the bowl. While standing there I could see it start to drop out of the nozzles in the ventura. I pulled the power valve but did not see any...

Re: Holley 94 on 1953 Ford

Mixture screws are a 1/2 turn out. Idle is set to ear. I have dwell meter that also reads RPM but it flaked out on me. Also I have not checked the timing or whether the advance is working. The car...

Re: Holley 94 on 1953 Ford

It was my assumption that if I was able to run the mixture screws in and the motor shutoff then power valve was not blown. This maybe a poor test. If I screw either mixture screw in the motor will...
