Re: Dielectric grease on starter switch contacts

You may want to file smooth any pits or arced spots, a rough surface is more prone to arcing and sticking than a smooth surface.

Re: Hood paint prep

You also need to look at the clearances between the hood halves. Modern high build primers can reduce the clearances to where the first few times you open the hood, the paint will chip. I mean the...

Re: creaking steering

You said turning the wheel turns the lights off. Could the sound be coming from the light switch tube binding in the steering shaft?

Re: MARC Membership Update & Virus

I certainly hope MARC does not regret this decision. When the CDC directs that any sizable gathering be cancelled or delayed and travel be avoided especially for the vulnerable population (over 60),...

Re: Fuel Filter

I tried one several years ago. The ethanol gas softened the housing and closed off the fuel flow. Perhaps today they tolerate the current fuel blend better.

Re: Has anyone used one of these?

I have a similar tool but have not used it much. It does well at removing paint and primer. It says it works well at removing undercoating but I have not tried it. It will remove some surface rust...

Re: The new one from germany

Guten Tag, Glad to see your information and photos. I was fortunate to visit an "Old Timers" show in Ulm several years ago on a business trip. I still have a few things I purchased there. I think...

Re: '30 Windshield Wiper Hole Size & Location

Thanks, I think that is the information that I was remembering. I wish there were more dimensions but I will measure one of my other 30's windshields and go from there.

'30 Windshield Wiper Hole Size & Location

I am working on a '30 Town Sedan that someone has welded up the wiper holes. I have a '30 Coupe and Tudor I could measure but would like to have the correct dimensions. I recall seeing them somewhere...

Re: Front Fender Bead Patch

I used one on my coupe. The profile and fit were good, perhaps not fine point levels but fine for a nice driver. I used a flanging pliers from Eastwood to make a step flange on the original fender...

Re: French Gray Pinstriping

John, You can also consider 3M pinstriping tape. It comes in several widths and colors. I don't know if they have one close to what you want but I found one that matched Tacoma Crème that I used on...

Re: Whitewall question

On our Tudor and Coupe with ww's, the right rear discolors faster than the others. That is the tire closest to the tailpipe and I surmise that has something to do with it.

Re: model A engine with 2 stromberg 97 carbs

I ran a dual downdraft manifold and carbs on mine many years ago when I was in High School. It looked impressive, really roared when you opened them up but I did not notice any power improvement,...

Re: Propagation of the (Model A )

When we take our two A's to cruise nights, we find the kids as much or more interested than the older crowd. If a youngster shows a particular interest, we get them in the driver's seat and have them...

Re: Question

Yes, you need to adjust the voltage regulator. We had 8 volt batteries in our modified farm tractors in the 60's and 70's. The voltage regulator coil needs to be adjusted by changing the spring...

Re: A little off topic

Congratulations from another past FFA member. I never got to any of the state titles but the farm education served me very well.

Re: Zenith or TillotsonCarb???

It appears that you have a copper gas line. Copper work hardens with vibration and then cracks or breaks. You do not want a leaking or broken gas line near the exhaust manifold or tail pipe. Get the...

Re: Rock Moss Green 28 Tudor???

I purchased my '30 coupe from my Great Uncle in 1957. It was maroon then and all the interior painted areas are maroon. Maroon was not officially offered on the '30 coupes but it sure was maroon....

Re: G28T German engine.

Ron, the engines were used in Ford Ruhr trucks and Class farm equipment. I doubt any of the trucks were imported to the U.S. The Class equipment started to be imported about 10 yrs ago so I doubt...

Re: Stock Model A 1/4 mile time?

Back in the mid 60's, we were racing a '56 Chevy. A Model A showed up every week and got a trophy becasue there was no one in his class. I took my stock '30 coupe on Sunday, ran a 23.5 sec 47.8 MPH...

Re: Model A Engine in Gleaner Combine

The Gleaner Model A engines that I am familiar with have an industrial Mallory unit on them. The Mallory unit that I have (full of rust) is a dual point unit.

Re: Is this a rich man's hobby?

I tell people that having a Model A (or two) just proves there are some of us who have just a little more time and money than we know what we HAVE to do with it. Very few of us attempt to make money...

Re: Paint striping with tape

I used 3M tape for my 30 Coupe. Buckskin tape came very close to the Tacome Creme. It can be a little difficult to make a real small radius like just behind the rear fender on a couple but works...
