Trasmission gear wear

Hello,

I am wondering whether the gear wear as shown in the attached pictures is acceptable. Back story: These gears came out of a car that had a lot of growl noise when driving in first and...

Re: GAV on Model B Carb INOP

Parts arrived from Renner's corner exactly as ordered. My reports of their demise are greatly exaggerated.

Re: GAV on Model B Carb INOP

@MAG: Thanks for that tip. I had been wondering what the spring-looking-like thing was in the pictures on Vince F.'s website... had thought it was a thread, turns out it's a, uh... spring, duh........

GAV on Model B Carb INOP

I have a Model B carburettor for which the GAV does not seem to work correctly. The carb. runs rich independent of whether the GAV is fully closed, fully open, or anywhere in between (it is running...

I pulled one plug from a cylinder from which I was not getting any...

Re: You ever do something really STUPID?

Took my '31 Roadster out for the first time in a few months, not noticing that all coolant had leaked out. While driving, I attributed the burning smell I kept getting to some oil I had spilled on...

Re: Thread size for Model B jets

Hi folks,

Yes, that actually makes sense (much more than a 10-34 tap does), given that Zenith used metric units for dimensions of other parts. Don't know why I didn't think of that.

Cheers,...

Thread size for Model B jets

Hi folks,

My reading and measurements indicate that the threads on Model B carb. jets (e.g. main, cap, other) are 10-34, yes, ten dash thirty four, not the standard 10-32. No amount of Googling...

Mutant B Carb

I purchased (what I thought was) a Model B carburettor, for the purposes of acquiring a core to be re-built. I didn't look close enough, for though it has nearly the form of a Model B carb., it has...

Re: Which SCAT crank?

FWIW, I have had two 'modern' (neoprene?) rear main seals fail on me after <1000 miles. I have since reverted to the traditional seal set-up, providing no more than minor oil leakage for ~6000 mi....

Re: Brake Light Switch

Hi folks,

I recently had to repair even the A&L US-made brake light switch with the brass bushings, even after only ~6 months of daily use. I was not very happy about that, for, given that one...

I drove my '31 Roadster today from Los Gatos (southern SF Bay Area) to Lake Berryessa and back for some jet-skiing with my son. That's 225 miles of driving round trip, in particularly hot weather -...

Re: Banjo Fracture

Thanks for the comments folks.

This differential underwent a mild re-build about one year and 10,000 miles ago (it was really just to swap the ring-and-pinion gear, to a 1:3.54 ratio).

The...

Re: Engine question

A stock, fully restored complete engine ( 'Long Block') can be had for about $3500; you may have to supply a restorable core (these can be found for $200 - $500). If you want higher performance...
