Re: New toy to play with this year!

Nice! Hopefully mine will look that good next year! Mine came with new tires on nicely painted cream wheels so I'm thinking of going with maroon or blue.

Re: New toy to play with this year!

Thanks! The last one I fixed up came from VA Beach area. The salt water air had not been kind to it after 90 years. I'm looking forward to working on this project!

It almost looks like it came from a Tudor.

New toy to play with this year!

I found a good condition 31 Town Sedan recently. Brought it home a week ago and haven't had any time to fool with it. The entire running gear is supposed to have been gone through. The body is in...

Re: engine slows when advance timing

I have a Nurex timing tool but have better luck using a screwdriver and setting the time. Most members of our club swear by them but I wasn't as impressed.
It does sound like your timing is too...

Re: Engine Number

Luckily so far where I live in Va, the numbers aren't even checked. I guess they assume you're smart enough to confirm your self or you risk never being able to get rid of it if someone more...

Re: Florida Drivers

Way back when I was a bit more flexible, I had to do the same thing when I was in my MG Midget. Only wrecked 1 and no other car was near me...🙄

Re: A newbie needs help!

We have a couple of members of our local club that have letter sets that are very close to original style. When someone has to change engines then that person can file off the old numbers and stamp...

Re: Straightening up a couple of Model A's (Advice needed)

I have to admit I agree with this advice. If you don't know how to do body work then start with what you do know. Mechanical. Buy both of Les Andrew's books, the red and the green one. You will...

Re: What did he do?

Not quite my taste but different strokes for different folks. I saw a wood bodied A in Hemmings a couple of weeks ago. Struck me the same way, more tacky than anything. Both cars have had lots of...

Re: LED headlight bulbs

I have the focused LED headlights in both of my cars. They are much better than original and I haven't had issues with oncoming traffic blinking at me for being too bright. I did turn the generator...

Re: Favorite "A" Body Style

I have 1 of my favorites, 1928 Fordor Leatherback. The other one that I really like is the 28-29 Phaeton. I've always been partial to the early A's vs the 30-31's.

Re: Synthetic oil in a Model A

I agree Jeepguy. Just because it has always been done that way doesn't mean it's the best way.

Re: Synthetic oil in a Model A

Thanks for the discussion guys! My dad was very old school and believed that it came with 30W, so that's what they use now. I have talked with members of our club and like here, everyone has their...

Re: Synthetic oil in a Model A

Thanks Joe K and PS. I have had no experience with older cars and synthetic oil. It's nice to know that I'm not doing harm! Engines are way to expensive to experiment with so that's why I am asking...

Re: Synthetic oil in a Model A

Back in the 70's I worked in a service station. We sold a cheap "reprocessed " oil that was basically used oil that had been filtered several times and repackaged. That's probably what you used in...

Re: Synthetic oil in a Model A

Thanks Synchro. I haven't heard that but I was losing enough out the rear main anyway. That's why I have the pan off. Hoping to at least slow down the drip!

Re: Synthetic oil in a Model A

Thanks Jim! I wasn't sure if it would affect poured bearings. I couldn't think of anything else it may bother. Since I use synthetic in my everyday cars I always have it on hand. I have to make a...

Synthetic oil in a Model A

I'm sure there is a thread on this somewhere but I haven't found it. Was wondering if anyone uses synthetic oil in their A's. Is there any advantages? I have a B model engine that I have apart to...

Re: Powder Coating Guns?

I had the wheels on my Tudor powder coated about 3 years ago. The cost was $125/wheel and they still look great. I'm not sure I could have gotten as nice a paint job as the powder coating is with the...
