Re: Mikes model A ford parts

No problem with Mike’s but would advise confirming parts are in stock.

Re: Ormond Beach, FL, Model A estate sale

Bud did accumulate lots of Model A parts during the past 50+ years but was one of the nicest persons you would ever want to meet.

Re: Ormond Beach, FL, Model A estate sale

Re: Valve Inspection

Re: antifreeze, was not aware of that. Other than just water, what is the preferred alternative?

Thanks.

Re: Starter Issue

I would return it to the rebuild shop and at least get an assessment of the problem before investing in a replacement.

Re: Why do you like your car.

Although I have always liked the style of the Coupe, the primary reasons for buying the car in 1960 were local availability and price; $150. Have never regretted.

Re: Mitchell Over Drive 26% or 36%

My Coupe may do 50 mph but I don’t wish to push it that hard. Before doing much distance driving, I will need to do something to reduce the rpm. Perhaps it’s mostly a mental thing.

Re: Modern Plate Points #

I have eliminated the lower plate and connect directly from the coil to the points but can someone educate me on the wireless plate? Thanks.

Re: Rear Float-a-Motor Mount Install Issue

Installed FAM’s in my 31 Coupe about 3 years ago. Likely from Snyder’s. No problems in my case.

Re: Beware

Brent,
I have enjoyed reading and learning from your posts since joining this forum. However, I find your position on this thread disturbing. You have criticized the Model A community as being too...

Re: Battery Disconnect

I fully agree. I recently pulled a spark while working on a friend’s car by allowing a wrench to touch the disconnect post (mounted on the firewall) and a head bolt at the same time. The disconnect...

Re: rfitz

I converted my “driver” to 12V negative ground and 1-wire alternator. Simple conversion and still use the original starter which seems to be happy if you don’t stand on it too long. Very satisfied...

Re: water pump

The front grease fitting on the leakless type is for show only. The rear fitting should take grease but recommended only a small amount every 500 miles. The leakless type has a sealed front bearing...

Re: Would leaving the ignition on cause damage to the coil?

I agree. A good habit to protect the coil and possibly even the car and garage in a worst case scenario.

Re: Installing outer door handles

I tried some time ago to remove the handle on my 31 Coupe for a key remake. Was not successful. May be time to try again and follow this thread closely.

Re: Question about 12-volt negative earth

As part of the wiring update, if not already existing, I Would add a Battery Disconnect switch in the GND cable to the battery.

Re: Question about 12-volt negative earth

Think it might have been best to fix what, if anything, was broke first
before ripping out all the wiring.

Re: Do any of you smell a rat here?

Agreed. I was recently ready to buy a 3910 Ford tractor at a very low price from Craigslist. Similar scenario: Woman's husband died, selling out and moving to OK to live with mother. Sounded good...
