Sounds like the faulty soft china bearings in the cluster. I just tore apart one that had 1900 miles on it with NOS case and all gears but had metal flakes and that was the problem. Lots of model A...

Yes Pete the one on the left is the 91A fork and the one on the right is stamped 46.

Thanks Charlie, so you think it is a 38? One thing I forgot to mention it is the wide fork that fits the later synchro.

Shifter fork ID

The backstory, I put a 81A double detent shifter assembly on a transmission I'm putting together and it wouldn't go in second gear deep enough to engage but would go in third gear so deep the synchro...

A 1947 cross reference I have says the RA-135 Bower is the same as B7118 along with 99026 Hyatt, the B7121 is RA-136 Bower and 99028 Hyatt. Us V8 guys are having the same problem! I'm putting...

But there is a seal that goes under the nut/washer on the rear axle that sure will keep the grease from getting in your hubcap! Part number B-1183.
