Re: Matranga Merc

Re: 1949 Merc distributor maintenance

Napa does indeed sell a universal 7mm plug wire set with plug ends/boots installed.
The distributor side has to be cut to length as necessary and ends/boots installed.

Re: Need help identifying a carb and distributor

The tube that comes off of the vacuum canister on the distributor goes to the spark control port on the carburetor. (no conversion should be required)

Re: Trim between upper and lower fender on a 41 Merc

If you are talking about 3/16" dia stainless fender welting, Dennis Carpenter has it, as well as other vendors.
YOU have to cut, fit and form to fit.

Re: intake valve seals??

On an engine with similar symptoms the cure was to add a can of any 'no-smoke' product and run normally. (Rislone, etc. ) (don't over-think it)

If you are running a double-pumper fuel pump, there have been, over...

Re: fuel

This is a common problem after a long time not being used due to evaporation and drain-back.
Do not remove any fuel lines until you have confirmed that the choke is operating.

Re: Grill Guard

Have installed several over the years and I can't recall one that did not need a little 'tweeking' ( either spread apart or brought closer together )

Re: Grill Guard

If as in this case the holes in the grille guard do not line up with the holes in the bumper, no amount of loosening of the bumper brackets will correct that situation.

Re: Grill Guard

Don't have any idea what the one/s you have look like but on the few I have installed years ago, any bending that was needed to align holes was done COLD.

Re: Feedback on by pass spin on oil filter
