My understanding is that it is more important to match the lining with the drum. i.e. woven with steel drums, bonded with cast iron drums. Interesting thread, I am looking forward to others replying...

When I rebuilt my set of shocks, and did the relevant research, I ended up using a 50/50 mix of 80W-90 diff oil and STP. This I understood gave a viscosity similar to the original shock fluid.

I run a 5 brush EVR of Tom's, best thing since sliced bread, would not hesitate to recommend fitting them, it is a delight and pleasure reading the postings on the Ford Barn, one never stops...
