Re: Generator Question

Not really stuck ........... just a tight fit. If you take a small hammer and tap on the back face of the retainer plate. It should start to come loose. Tap at bottom of plate then at top of plate...

Re: Gas guage outer ring not seating

You said it’s a repro gauge. Does it use a neoprene gasket or cork gasket? I prefer the cork gasket with a thin coat of grease or Vaseline. It compresses better than the neoprene gasket. And, you...

Re: Gas guage outer ring not seating

With the gauge out of the tank, check the fit of the outer ring onto the gauge. Some of the reproduction outer rings are tight in their inside diameter or have “flashing” that wasn’t trimmed before...

Re: Does anyone sell a kit to repair the dash light wiring?

The 28-30 dash light can be rebuilt but it is a tedious little job. Since the socket is a special piece that has a built in mechanism for the light being turned on, it is a one of a kind item and...

Re: Seeking advice - Seat riser/base repair

All depends on your intentions. The area you show .......... as is ........ is not a point of no return. But, as Old Blue Oval suggests, welding in a piece might lead to further problems. If your...

Re: Assembly - fan to water pump

The aluminum fan IS a good reproduction part. What we do have to remember that it is an aluminum casting as opposed to the stamped steel original. In order to make the correct dimensions for the fan...

Re: No High Beams - Light Switch Question

You havenít mentioned replacing any parts in the system. If thatís correct, itís totally possible that the headlight switch at the bottom of the steering column is from a later model Ford. They are...

Re: 1932 Rear Hood Retainer Problem

The nuts that hold the original Model A retainer are 12/24 not 10/32. The nuts may be there but, by using the 10/32 screws they might be falling though the holes in the12/24 nuts. 12/24 screws are...

Sounds like you got it nailed. Nice job of isolating the problem, fixing it, and making other logical modifications to avoid problems down the road. Well done.

Re: Loose window crank and door latch

There was a change in the window regulator shafts that the handle attaches to. Shafts on 28/29 & maybe early 1930 cars had a slot cut in the end of the shaft. When the handle was installed, the set...
