Re: Upcoming videos of our Model A's

Smart man!! Don't think for a moment that 'Uncle Sam's Men' are not watching these shows, and the last thing you need is an audit wanting to know where the money went and was it properly reported as...

Re: 1930 Tudor accident

Likely in this case, if the agreed value was $9k, then the estimate of $7,200 was a formality for it to be considered a total-loss which is typically 80% of value.

So after it is repaired, what...

Re: Frame - difference 28-29/30-31

As far as "...modified and 'repaired'...

Re: Frame - difference 28-29/30-31

David, is the reproduction frame you speak about a replica of an original 1929 frame, -or aren't they a tubing frame with similar dimensions however not suitable for using stock engine and/or brake...

Re: piston ring end gap spacing ?

I am not sure that is an accurate statement regarding no gap. Several piston ring manufacturers offer a gapless styled ring that uses no gap between the two ends. These are also used quite...

Re: 1929 Pickup interior

While I somewhat agree with what is being said, there is a side of this that I feel is not really being discussed/considered. The purpose of the publications that both clubs produce is to provide...

Re: Big Valves and porting?

You are correct ...if you are quoting 20+ year ago technology. That outdated technology mindset also applies to surface finish on port work. Much has changed since then.

Re: Big Valves and porting?

Thank you. Gaining efficiency is like cooking, and everyone has their own recipe. The closest engine to the Model-A that has seen extensive R&D done is the 5 horse Briggs & Stratton engine used in...

Re: piston ring end gap spacing ?

To answer your question, ...yes, but again most rings today are gapless so it is moot.

FWIW, we monitor high-performance engines closely during assembly and then in teardown. The ring gaps are...

Re: Big Valves and porting?

Yes. The head of the valve typically will hit the roof of the combustion chamber before the lobe is too big to fit through the cam journal bores.

Bob, what you are showing in the picture is...

Re: piston ring end gap spacing ?

I do agree with you 110% regarding the ring installation and gap alignment does not matter however most do not realize that if the rings are rotating randomly, this generally indicates a different...

I suppose if you don't have the correct tool, then soaking or other ways might be ok however it is my opinion that it has more to do with the tool you remove than with than soaking. Do a search on...

Re: Fuel / Gas Shut-Off Valve Solution

Just an FYI, if you are going thru that many original-style valves, then you will likely have the same issue with this valve. The root issue is you have sediment in the tank that is scoring the...

They were having their windlace and coachlace products manufactured for themselves in large quantity runs. Again, they have likely been out of production for 3-4 years now.
