1950 Ford sedan

Managed to get them on and pistons in. ( I asked Lordco for a price on Hastings rings for my engine $519.00 )

They are Mchenry rings for a 4 ring pistons

Starting to reassemble the engine and upper oil ring has 4 pieces but when I put them on the rings don't want to compress due to the inner piece holding them out

there is no mark on the piston tops,There is a vertical slot cut in one side of the skirt between the two oil rings should it go up or down?

8BA piston install

I know the piston pin is offset but there is no mark on the pistons to indicate which way to install. there is an oiling slot on the skirt, does it go up (intake side ) or down (exhaust side )?

Are you running a flathead V8? I was told it won't produce enough vacuum to operate the booster

As I am putting an electric fuel pump in would it be possible to use the mechanical pump and a vacuum canister to work the booster?
