Re: Devastating Blow

I got my 30 coupe 9 years ago. One of the 1st things I noticed was that there is almost no one on the road today that knows what hand signals are! The only ones who realize what you are doing is...

Re: Pearl Harbor

Barnstuf, what Tinker said goes for myself also. Thank You Sir! My 1st boss right out of high school was a sailor in WW2. He was in Pearl Harbor a few months after the attack. He always said there...

Re: Pearl Harbor

Hi All, I just got the opportunity to do some catching up here on the Barn. I asked my 84yr old mother the other what day it was. Her mind isn’t so sharp anymore. When I told her it was Pearl Harbor...

Re: This is sad...

Truely sad.. I'm almost to the point where I'm afraid to take out my coupe. People today have seemed to have lost their common sense. Speed limits mean nothing. People constantly will tailgate me....

Re: Oil leak

First thing I would do is to try to clean as much oil off as you can. Maybe a can of gunk cleaner and spray it off with a garden hose. Take it for a short ride and park it. Cardboard underneath gives...

Re: Overcharging?

Thanks for all the responses to this. My last battery was about 10 years old and I only replaced it because it just didn't have it to crank the engine anymore. I only put water in my battery maybe 1x...

Re: Overcharging?

I read what I just posted and need to correct some things. It's the contacts on the cutout that I watched close and not re-open. The cutout will "cut in" (contacts close) and the gen will charge. It...

Re: Overcharging?

Ok, just sort of an update. The voltage is being measured directly at the battery terminals. I let the battery trickle charge for the last day or so. Checked the battery voltage just as it sat,...

Re: Overcharging?

Got it on charge today. Going to let it charge up for the day. Located an analog meter to try. I was doing some reading on the cutout too. Just have to see what it looks like after a good recharge....

Re: Overcharging?

Yup, 6 volts, Pos ground. New battery last summer. Everything stock as far as I can tell.

Re: Overcharging?

The battery was at 8.5 volts after driving for about 20 minutes. Don't know what it started out at (from sitting) but the car cranked right up. If the battery acts like it's own regulator, then maybe...

Re: Overcharging?

Thanks for the reply. The battery was not on a tender. It did fire right up with no issue though. I did replace the battery last summer. The old one just didn't crank it anymore, and was about 10...

Overcharging?

Hi Everyone! It was a beautiful day so I got my coupe out for a little spring drive. Fired right up after sitting all winter. Only went 5 mikes is so and could smell that "charging battery" smell....

Re: Sad day

So sorry about your coupe. It was a very nice looking car! They always say it could have been worse, and if you think about it, I guess it could have. I know I'm really attached to my little Ford. I...

Re: Dent and crease removal with MAPP gas?

Have to agree with Kevin in NJ here. As a kid growing up I spent lots of time with an old time body repair man. This guy really made it look easy. I remember him telling me to work out dents like...

Re: Sealed beams

Haven't really thought about the double lens thing. Drive it plenty at night and the lights do work well. I was really surprised when I saw sealed beam bulbs in them. The conversion looks to be well...

Re: Sealed beams

This actually answers a question for me. I took my headlights apart to polish things up and found sealed beam bulbs inside. You would never know. The do work good too.

Re: Not another Mac's post!!

Again, I just want to say I did not post this to start a debate. Everyone has their preferences. It's just a bit of a let down to walk into a parts store, which is what they are, and walk out empty...

Unhappy Not another Mac's post!!

Just wanted to start this by saying I'm not looking to bash anyone, or any parts vendors for that matter. Just thought I'd pass on my experience from yesterday. My job takes me right by Macs almost...

Re: A man and his dog

Me and the girls. They don't care where the car is parked as long as they get to sit in it! :)

Re: Marvell Mystery Oil

I dont know, i guess it should just be left up to your choice. Right out of high school, I went to work at an automotive machine shop. The owner, a WWII vet, used to tell us he forgot more than we'd...

Re: Cool flea market find

Thanks! I dont know if the seller knew what it was. He just saw Henry Ford. Its nice though, very old, heavy cardboard backer. The early Ford logo is on the stack without the oval. Later pics show...

Cool flea market find

Spotted this pic at a local flea market. The ship is the Henry Ford II. It's got the early Ford logo on the stack. Henry Ford II on the stern and the life rings. Its on a very heavy cardboard backer....

Re: Ethanol and my gas gauge

Mike V. what is the float in your pic? I was looking for a brass replacement for the one that will slide on the float wire. The one on mine is not cork, it's the improved neoprene. The only other...

Re: Ethanol and my gas gauge

Mitch, I bought the rebuild/gasket kit, #28-24797-1. Almost exactly a year ago. Bogart, I was thinking that same thing, brass float. Thanks
