Re: Wheel Size regarding Radials
I've read that when people started collecting and restoring Model A's in significant numbers back in the '50s, 19 and 21 inch tires were not being manufactured any longer. Restorers had no choice...

Re: Can't get engine to idle down
This makes no sense. It's not possible for the throttle plate to be closed and to have the engine running at full throttle. Does your friend know which way to turn the throttle to close it versus...

Re: 1923 roadster running bad need help
Maybe check for a vacuum leak at the intake manifold. I imaging you remove the manifolds when the head was removed. Did you use a new manifold gasket? Did you tighten the nuts down nice a tight?

Gas seepage at steering column
Anyone have any suggestions for a quick fix for some slight seepage of gas where the steering column fastens to the gas tank? I know, I shouldn't mess with a gas leak, and I should pull the tank and...

Re: Front wheel bearing grease caps?
The center section of the wheel seals up tight against the brake drum, and the hubcap covers the exposed area of the outer bearing. It's not a perfect seal, but hey, nothing on the Model A is a...

Re: Failed Experiment
Interesting thoughts in this thread. Not to hijack it, but to add to the conversation, for the standard Zenith carb arrangement, do we really need that heat transfer feature of the exhaust/intake...

Re: Off Topic Help Correct fancy wood damage
I've read that smearing mayonnaise on a white water stain on finished wood will work. Apply it and let is sit for some time. The oil in the mayo will soak in and remove the stain.

Re: Anyone fitted a rear gas tank?
If you think about it, where the tank is situated is probably the safest place for a tank. It is out of harms way from all but the most sever crashes. If the crash is bad enough that it would tear...

Re: Rear water pump grease fitting
The fact that water pump grease is very water insoluble, and it doesn't thin out under high temperature is exactly why you want to use it in this application. That rear bearing is open to the...

Re: Original Grease Gun Rebuild
Thanks Guys! In reading the patent and using it's terminology, I gather the only reason for the rubber piston is to keep the grease on that side of the piston toward the nipple, and that the grease...

Yes, we're talking about different things. The clevis is offset toward the center, but it is also rotated slightly so that it isn't at a right angle. If you were to stick a pencil through the...

Re: Rear water pump grease fitting
One way is by that rear grease fitting. "Leakless" pumps are usually built with a dummy grease fitting, and the cap does not unscrew. It's there as a plug for the hole in the housing and looks...

Re: Hard Brake Pedal - Update on Post #9
Aha, they should angle away from the backing plate. Think about it, the brake lever at the back wheel is further out from the center line of the car than the lever on the cross shaft is. The brake...

Re: Hard Brake Pedal - Update on Post #9
Are the front levers leaning forward about 15 degrees from vertical at rest, before you step on the pedal? If they are vertical, or leaning backward, that limits the amount of travel of the front...
