Re: windshield seal on a 46

Be sure to get the correct seal for whether or not you have the center trim piece.

Re: New misfire - sticky valves?

You might try starting the engine at night and looking at the plug wires and distributor cap in the dark. You'd be surprised how much arcing shows up that way.

Re: WHO Is the Oldest Early V8 Forum Member?

I'm 74 and a couple of years older than my '48 Super Deluxe Tudor. It's not flathead powered, but an Olds with a Muncie 4-speed. I've been around flatheads all my life, tho having learned to drive...

Re: Trouble shoot 1950 8Ba initial start up Help

I agree with Tubman, I think your ignition timing is way off. Especially if your timing by eye appears to be 2" advanced. That is way too far off for the engine to start. Get a timing light and...

Re: 12 year old Coker tires, still ok?

I'd probably run them, but not at serious speed. I've had several blow-outs on my motorhome with proper inflation, excellent tread, but 10-12 years old. Never a front tire, thankfully.

Re: dashboard removal

If you are asking about the plastic ribbed trim piece, it is attached from the rear in only a couple of places, kind of central to each of the three pieces. Maybe 1/4" bolts, with fairly large head....

Re: Just won't fire up.

Bad or old gas will do that. I have a generator that will not run properly on old gas while the fuel injected Motorhome engine will run on it. Fresh gas and the gen. runs fine. I don't drive the...

Re: Ford service/Award pin?

May be an award program for employee-suggested part, which resulted in improvement in cost or efficiency. My company did that for years. Union Carbide originally, then Martin Marietta etc.

Re: Mart's update: 2021 No2. 32 Sedan Project Pt. 26. New wheels and Tyres!

Way to go Mart, you too, GB. Sounds like you bit the bullet. I can identify with that need. I've changed many a tire myself in my 74 yrs of playing with hobby farming, motorcycles, gardening...

Re: Prony Brake Ideas

Hey Tubman, Isn't there a vintage gasoline engine on display at some historic town in Florida that is said to be the largest Gasoline engine in the world or some such?

Re: Holley 94 Thottle Cable/ Linkage Fitting

Look at Ford Tractor linkages. They are at least similar, but I'm not sure of the size compatibility. Ford 8N, 2N , 9N and NAA thru 800 series are all similar. Marvel Schebler is one of the carb...

Re: Which rad brace 47 fenders on 41 frame

'41 is narrower frame too, more like a '40 if I remember correctly.

Re: What to check on a 46 Mercury

I think I saw an overdrive handle on the lower left of the dash. Must have overdrive. That is a very good feature.

Re: Good day, ended with a laugh

I had a thermal emergency recently, while mowing with my '54 Ford Jubilee tractor. It has a leak around the valve cover and leaks oils fairly badly. When it gets hot, the oil will ignite from the...

Another option would be the small Suzukis. I know my 95 Sidekick had 5 on 5 1/2" wheels similar to Jeep.

Re: 52 f1

You might check to see if the brake lights are on when this occurs. That would indicate a sticking master cylinder. Probably not likely though.

I've thought about trying bicycle handlebar wrap. They use leather for that sometimes.
I haven't tried it yet, tho.

Re: Again?! this time juddering at a stop

How about the clutch? Have you had problems with it engaging smoothly. I guess it's possible that it is not releasing smoothly. Reverse of when it shudders upon engagement. Never heard of it...
