Re: V8 Engine
If it is your starter, you're much better off getting your original heavy duty starter rebuilt than buying a lightweight modern starter.

Re: V8 Engine
Ed, you might consider editing your phone number out of your initial post. You're opening yourself up to cold calls from places you'd never want to hear from.

Re: Door Handle I.D. ?
Bob, by pure coincidence, I have also thought I'd been wrong before, but subsequently discovered that I was only mistaken. :D

Re: Oil Filter Canister Question
I would be cautious of the one without the spring. I haven't seen that type, but just a guess, but it may have been an earlier version that was later updated? I would think that the spring version...

Re: alameda, ca swap meet???
Unfortunately, we have lost our venue. The Naval Air Museum that partnered with us is also unhappy about the situation. If we find another location, we'll gladly restart our Swap again, as it was...

Re: Chassis/Frame number.
The F indicates Foreign. The numbers are the serial number. Stars were used as a starting and ending digit position to prevent alteration.

Re: Frame vin
The use of a wire brush was perhaps the worst choice you could have made to reveal the serial number. You’re not dealing with tool steel, iron is soft and vulnerable to all abrasives.

Re: Coil adapter issue
I guess I'm just an old stick in the mud purist. When I look under a hood to see a coil adapter on a helmet distributor, it hurts my eyes and I just turn away.

Re: Rewiring headlights on a 1950 Ford Tudor
A tip for brighter headlights:
Use the existing switching system to activate relays up near the radiator, relays powered by heavier gauge wire. On the grounding, run ground wires from headlights...

Re: 1936 V8 Deluxe.
For clarification of the previous posts, there are bell housings on both the engine and the transmission, the aerial number appearing on the transmission bell. There is no engine number. If the...

Re: Grey hound hood ordament
David, Can you make a comparison between the Ford and Lincoln greyhounds please? From memory, I think the Lincoln greyhounds were slightly larger, and have more prominent ribcages. Am I correct?

Re: Molded vs. Woven linings
The first I’ve heard of mixed linings is here on this thread. From what I’ve read, woven was discontinued in ‘37 in favor of molded. The instruction sheet posted here is aftermarket, not from Ford.

Off topic. Remember TV show Columbo?
Sorry, at my age TV occupies much of my time. I always enjoyed watching Columbo, never got tired of his low-brow character outsmarting high society criminals. Well, he’s back. Only now he’s a she and...

Re: Powder coat VS paint for wheels
When I had my wheels sandblasted years ago in prep for the powder coat, I didn't accept the blast job due to sand inclusions captured between surfaces. Not just a few, there were many, which also...
