Make sure you have a thin steel washer under the nut otherwise the vibration may allow the nut to gaul the aluminum and cause the fan to wobble.

Your photo shows an early 1928 differential. The threads are on the drive shaft, not the pinion sleeve. See the link for an explanation. The set up is not compatible with the later configurations....

I set my torque wrench at 90 ft. lbs. and after it clicks I look to see where the cotter pin hole is. If it is lined up I leave it. If not I tighten it more until it does. I don't think I ever exceed...

The only way you can get some reliable roller bearings for a Model A transmission is to salvage them out of a Model A transmission that has serviceable bearings in them. Pick them up at swap meets....

Most all the suppliers carry these poor quality bearings. It is best to re-use the three roller bearings if they appear to be serviceable.

The half inch round ball on the end of the shifter may be worn square along with wear in the slots of the shifting forks. This can allow the shifter to become disengaged from the forks.
