Re: front 57 wagon sway bar install

Mike if you want to really improve the handling look at the 58 Edsel Ranger/Pacer bar. It will require mounts added to the frame rails but the holes for the link ends are already in the lower...

Re: Checking radiator for overheating problem with 1956 Thunderbird

Do you really have an over heating issue? Are you loosing water? Have you tried just idling and watch the temp gauge? Will it blow water out sitting and idling? You will not hurt the engine if...

Re: Problems Posting photos

Sounds exactly like the problem we had on the 57 Fordsforever site. Turns out it was an issue at the host site with a missing update.

Giving it a try....

Re: New gas tank

All of my 57s had a ground wire on the tank. It was tied to one of the sender screws. My 58 Edsel Pacer had no isolation between the tank and the chassis/body and still has the ground wire on the...

Re: too much moisture in exhaust?

This brings to the front the need to "heat soak" the systems on these old cars. Engine, transmission, rear gear and the exhaust system. As stated the moisture is normal, the exhaust tubes not being...

Re: Electric power Steering in a 1954 Ford pick up?

The car units are very common, you-tube electric power steering and you will find a bunch of good videos. Using one of those will do away with your column shift as the column is heavily modified to...

Re: 1958 ranchero fuel gage prolem

First thing, is the temp gauge working as it should? Both are fed from the little can regulator. If the temp gauge does not indicate as it should there is most likely a regulator issue. If the...

Re: Torque when wrench won't fit.

Never used a torque wrench on ball joints and never had one come apart. As stated that 60 - 90 is a mile wide range! Put that big box on the nut and pull hard, you'll be good to go after the cotter...

Re: Fuel pump arm removal

Those little balls are swedged into place to seal the pump from letting crank case fumes and oil out.

Re: dome light wiring diagram

The door jamb switches are as common as dirt for many years of Fords. Check with NAPA for the switch. I found two styles, one is a round hole with two slots to take a round switch with spring clips...

Re: 62 TBird Driverís Seat move back farther

The holes in the seat bracket are stock from the factory. Carefully measure back 1 - 2" and drill new holes. May have to weld a small extension to the front mounts. Also check for "extra holes in...

Re: 62 TBird Driverís Seat move back farther

Pull the seat assembly out of the car, (4 bolts access from under), remove the lower cushion from the seat frame (4 bolts) and relocate the holes further to the rear. The seat skirt may cause an...

Re: 57 rear shocks

Yup, used to bench press FMX transmissions into cars from the ground, now use a floor jack with an adapter.....used to just lift FE intakes off the engine while in the car, now use a cherry picker to...

Re: Gas tank pressure

Almost all new replacement caps will let air in but no gas fumes out (thank you EPA). Drill a small hole in the rivet that holds it all together and that will let the tank breath.

Re: Thunderbird seats

Minor point, they are 66 as there was no "recline option" in 63. Might be 65s. Either way those are worth a bunch to the T-bird guys as it is a very rare option. They will work well in that 46.

Re: FE set in stone.

Agreed, the FE line has part of the valve cover seat in the intake manifold. The head pictured has no such demarcation.

Re: What would you recommend: Water temp gauge for 352 FE from 1961?

Classic sells good stuff. Give them a call and they will fill your needs. Check with Summit as well. The electric gauges have come a long ways since the first ones that were out there.
