Re: 46 ford misfire
It sounds like you have a restricted fuel line or a vacuum leak on the input to the fuel pump. Try replacing the flex line to the fuel pump. Use a correct flex line, not a rubber hose with clamps....

If your Merc has the original block in it, it may be one with the thin steel sleeves. Check the passenger side of the machined surface where the intake fits for a stamped 99T HS.
If you have the...

Re: Removing transmission 1947 Mercury
The last time that I did this on a 1947 Mercury was in 1952, so I don't remember everything I did. The engine has to be jacked up enough to allow the back of the transmission to clear the floor pan...

Re: Dim Headlights on 40:
Your post says that you have approximately 0.8V drop in voltage across your light switch. If you did the measurements correctly, your light switch is bad. The max drop across the light switch is...

Re: Electrical Issue advice
Rockfla, use a test light or buzzer between the ground post and ground to do your testing. Sparks around a battery can cause an explosion of the battery.
If it is not the cutout, check the...

Re: Gets warm and quits running?
Condensers seldom fail when hot. In most cases where the condenser is at fault, it was leaking and causing the coil to over heat. Then the spark is weak.
When they fail because of heat they stay...

I find that you get the best results with a head gasket when you use the gasket manufacturer's recommendations. I was a copper spray guy until a FelPro engineer gave us a talk back in the 1980's...

Re: 39 starter circut
Mike, my Lincoln uses the one that requires the 2 terminal starter button and after Ford converted to 12 volts some Fords used them. Chrysler and other manufacturers did use that type also.

You probably have the wrong type solenoid. Check for 6 volts (6 volt system) at the button (center) terminal, if you have 6 volts there, you have the correct solenoid. If you have less than 5 volts...
