Re: Holley 4150 carburetor development history

In 57, the use of three carbs may have been due to supply. Possibly off topic, possibly not, how many of you have seen a 460 with a factory Quadrajet?

Re: Need Help - Transmission Oil migration?

If the front seal allows air to leak in, oil will leak back and out. The solution it to turn over the engine enough to keep the seal wet. During a long cold winter, you may wish to put a pan under it...

Re: 300 c.i.d. Valve clearance and ignition timing?

A 300 six has a three grove crankshaft damper. A 240 looks the same but has one groove. I don't remember the 223, but I do remember they go like stink.

Re: Oh What Fun It Is To Ride

Being near Denver, you are close to the guys who raced out of a local dealer who's name is lost in my dusty old mind. Search Denver racers, they are old, but still active. Really nice 36, take good...

Re: Edelbrock 500 for 292?

The Edelbrock is a great carb for the street. Its only downfall is it is prone to boiling the gas in the bowl in very hot weather, after shut down. Fit as big a spacer under it that you can and still...

Re: Ceramic finishes

Wizards is a small company I wish was bigger. They make an easy on easy off wax product that shines even through dirt. The car reflects light when clean or dirty. It is expensive, the young man at...

Re: Ceramic finishes

VHT has a high temp engine enamel in rattle cans with ceramic. It gives a nice shine and lasts much longer, but not on exhaust.

Re: Strng Bx-Drg Lnk-Stud Cntrl Valve Slack

On my 55, everything was in good shape, no leaks. At rest, engine off, there was nearly a half turn of play in the steering wheel. Engine running and pulling car at 50 or so, that amount of turn on...

Re: 55/56 Ford front bumper license plate holder

I used round rubber thingies about 5/8 thick. I have no idea what they were meant for, Used the same ones for the 21 years I owned the 55.

Re: Control Valve Partial Rebuild in Car?

When removing the control valve from my 55, I found a pin the needed to come out. I used a vice grip and a small hammer. If I remember right, the valve needed a certain number of revs when...

Re: Power steering cylinder

Those cars seem to like to mark the floor. After mine was rebuilt, it still dripped just a bit. I put in half a bottle of Lucas P/S conditioner. No more leaks.

Re: 1956 F100 Transmission swap

When doing a swap like this I like to put the trans in with no clutch so I can look up inside with a bright light and a mirror to check things. Never try to pull the trans up tight with the four...

Re: Frame rot 1956

Getting hold of a new one; sounds like a business opportunity. Measure it, photo it from all angles. Save the info if you are not a welder.

Re: Replacement radiator fan for 292

Try to find an old style junk yard you can visit once in a while. Any fan on a Ford engine from the sixties through the nineties except 429, 460, and big sixes will fit the Y block. My 312 used a fan...

Re: Duel exhaust

Waldron exhaust made up the duals for my 55 sedan. I tested all the parts in place, then removed it all and hung it up to clean, prime and paint. It was money well spent. I used their house brand...

Re: Still wont start

Re: oil on floor under flywheel

Re: Help Quick Fuel SL450SV & Y Block 292

First, set the ignition timing with a vacuum gauge. More advance may help the flat spot. Then keep slowing the secondaries. In the US, we use a spring kit from Holley. It has a half dozen colored...

Re: 57 Ford model name

As I remember, it was simply a Fairlane 500 sedan. Less chrome, a cheapy. The Fairlane 500 was top of the line whatever body it was. My Grandpa had a six powered four door that year as a company car,...

Re: I notice my transmission leaking a little bit on the floor.

I have used Lucas auto trans leak repair in power steering units on more than one car. It works great for that, I have no doubt it would work for its intended use too.

Re: 55 Customline Disc Advise

Some folks forget the lower ball joint hole needs to be reamed with a tapered reamer. Most roundy round race shops can do it for a few bucks. Then; with Granada spindles, the turn stop wont line up....

Re: Cornhead grease and steering gear oil.

I used straight STP in my gear boxes. It did't leak out, and I could still turn the wheel in cool weather.
