do you have the piece that broke out of the firewall? if so you should reuse this piece to repair the firewall it will be a perfect fit.

on mine the tang broke off the oil pump drive apparently because the oil pump locked up. you could spin the oil pump shaft and feel it lock up and have to turn it backward to get it to unlock. could...

it is possible there were cracks in these areas & they were cut out & butt welded in. there are some small cracks in my firewall which will have to be welded but not bad enough to have to cut out any...

if the tank is out of the cab you should be able to see where the rivet holes were & be able to redrill them from the back side. the plates that are there are the original reinforcement plates.

you need to have the proper riveting tools, one of which is offset to fit inside the frame rail and crossmember

easiest way I found to get the rods out is to spray them with kroil, tap them out about 3/8 or so & chuck a variable speed drill on them giving them a slow spin & drawing them out
