I have experienced the same with my 39. I have also changed resistors with no difference.(lovely spot to work in) my engine runs fine and will start faster than anything I have owned.

If you have an oil filter you can tee into the supply line for it.

Is it a mechanical gauge? If not install one to verify you have oil pressure.

See if you can find a reprint of the 1939-48 Ford and Mercury shop manual which I believe was originally printed in Canada. Has lots of info for the big trucks.

I sent my pp to ft. wayne for adj. as it was unused bought 35 years ago and the fingers were not even. they set the heights and welded the threads to prevent movement. cost 25.00

You should be able to buy those fittings. I have used them from an aftermarket water gauge kit. (after I cracked mine from overtighting)

Check the post to make sure it is tight and not contacting case. It has to be insulated or it will do what you are experiencing.

Parts will surface rust quickly after using muratic acid, I never used it mixed with water. I like to follow with a metal prep to prevent the rusting.

Try it on the pump discharge and if that is zero I would think pump needs a rebuild.

Installing 160degree stats will not make it run cooler. If it's running hot any temp stat is going to be wide open.

If it were me I would just run a jumper from a working light to the dash lights until you have time to troubleshoot.
