You might want to check for intake leak if u have a backfire going on
I had what sounds like the same issue and it was intake sucking air by the gasket

Over thinking it
It vents up thru the torque tube as long as u are still running it
If you are running a open drive shaft
Then yrs you will need an external vent

Unless you’re going to use the oem shock mounts
Cut them off and run the backing plates straight up as they were designed
End off issues

Why not use a timing light and start playing with it so when your lever is all the down it will only advance as high as 28
Not that hard to do

Put a small bottle of K Seal in it if it’s not coming out the over flow k seal will take. Care of what ever leak you may have it is great stuff little pricy but worth it

i used a long pitman arm and bent it two different ways to go around the bone, it works for me but then again i'm using hex bar with heim joints on all my steering i cut the ball off the arm drilled...

Be sure to check the ring gear on the flywheel all the way around that it has worked it’s way forward
Had that once drove me nuts
until i found it after pulling the motor

Used to use on the race motors i build because of head stud leakage
Amazing stuff if used correctly
