Re: using the stock mechanical fuel pump with electric

I installed an AIRTEX E8016S fuel pump in-line with the Offy original type stock fuel pump. It is 12 VT and flow through type. It is switched and very rarely used on my 281 cube dual carb engine. ...

Re: vehicle registration original plates

In Pa. you have to apply for that special plate. There is a charge. In my case I had to register my 48 Merc as an antique and pay the antique fees and get the antique plate. If I want to use a 48...

Re: Back order Bob Drake strikes again!

I used the free shipping offer twice this month. One of those was the 20% cyber Monday sale. I did well. I got everything I ordered with free shipping and a good price. Also got the Drake...

Re: 5"-Wide 16" Mercury Wheels

I have no info on the wheels but have to comment on just how much that car looked like mine the day I brought it home. My wife saw the picture and thought it was a picture of my 48.

Re: Hershey Car Show

Saturday is show day and it is held on the golf course. All the show cars drive onto to golf course. I am assuming this is what you refer to as a parade. Grab a coffee, get there "early" and find...

Re: 1946 merc hood hinges

My Vintique hinges and springs will not hold the hood up in the open position on my 48 Merc. Maybe they are made for Fords? Maybe the Merc's longer hood is just to heavy? I don't know but they...

Re: '48 Super Deluxe Convertible trunk problem

I had the same problem on my 48 Merc Coupe. I shimmed the striker plate raising it up about 1/8 inch. The trunk latch works fine.

Re: 48 coupe floor patch questions

I made the inner rockers, lower rear quarter panel, the rocker panels. I made the panel where the running board mounts using the running board as a template. I welded nuts in that panel to mount the...

Re: 48 coupe floor patch questions

Here are a few more pictures. As I said the rust was pretty severe. Sometimes I wonder what was I thinking when I bought that car but there was just something about redoing a car that was...

Re: 48 coupe floor patch questions

My floors and rockers were in poor condition. I wanted to retain all the original contours etc. I cut out all the rusted areas with a 4 1/2 inch grinder with cutting discs. 18 gauge was used over...

Re: Fender Skirts

The skirts on my 48 Merc are away from the body like yours and as John said it is due to the gasket. That is a good thing because the paint on the fenders does not get scratched etc.

Re: EZ BOY Interior

The duct tape covers the areas that were in a fire years ago. It seems the car was being driven by a lady who caught the seat on fire. Some friends (?) of hers gave the car a name, Miss Fire1 and...
