Re: Flathead Timing Gear Failure?

I’d do a leak down test, it will confirm you have good compression, leaky valves or make sure the valves are opening as you rotate the engine. Hopefully not a wiped cam.

Re: Are the 3rd and 4th piston rings backward?

Yea, the thick solid one goes in the bottom groove. There are so many opinions on to run the fourth one or not, it’s pretty much personal preference. I left them off my build. My thought was extra...

Re: Bob Drake Brake Lines

For what it’s worth, I got a classic tube ss brake line kit for my 41. Very nice kit and the bends were spot on.

Re: 1940 ford pickup metal floor board

Heat gun to soften the rubber then some light grease might help you get it installed.

Column drop backet help

I thought this was a 40 pickup column bracket but the holes don’t like up with my dash. I can always drill a new hole so it’s more of curiosity. There is part number on the back but couldn’t find...

Re: What clutch would you use?

Thanks for all the replies. I read them all last night and started searching 10” again. I found a good deal on a modern driveline billet flywheel & their diaphragm clutch and decided to go with that....

What clutch would you use?

Hi, I’m building a 59a, 4” merc crank, 60 over with a 1007 b cam and will have a 39 3 speed. This is going in a 41 pickup that is going to be street driven. I have the flywheel that came with this...

Re: Powermaster PowerGen

If you’re running a sbf, a 3g is a great upgrade. I went from a power master that lasted a few years to a 3g. You’ll need to upgrade your charge wire though if running high amps. It is bigger too, I...

Re: Just won't fire up.

Vacuum leak? Seems like the engine is not drawing the fuel. Replace intake gasket, carb gasket, check the mating surfaces. One of those smoke machines might find the leak as well.

Re: Sound deadener

I would add to the trunk as well. Not a third but I removed it from the trunk of my mustang to replace some items and drove it without It reinstalled and it’s a lot louder without it.

Re: Sound deadning

I’ve used the home store stuff before, mid engine Boxster. Worked well on keeping the heat and sound level down to a noticeable improvement. The foam stuff works better for sound.

1942 color?

I think I found the original cab color (42 1/2 ton) when I pulled some of the firewall pad off. Do you think it’s original paint? I like the color. Was thinking it was that dynamic maroon. Thoughts?...
