I'm no expert but make sure it's filled with the correct Fire Extinguisher Substance for a car fire. I have heard Halon is the best but, is not period correct. I guess you could carry 2.

That OEM seat find is amazing. That's the way we did my 40 front seat in 1988 after my wife made brand new burlap coil bags. Wish I had taken a photo of the newly bagged bottom".

To my knowledge there is no type of seal in that location. It's a pretty snug fit when all is screwed down. You could probably use some "dum dum" putty seal if needed. Here's a bunch of photos that...

On is better because trunk lid applies continuous even pressure for curing of adhesive.
However, "off" probably works also unless install is not meticulous.
