Why not carry a real spare? Flat tires do happen and usually when you are not near a place where they can be fixed. I don't understand why you want it to look like a spare, but not be useable?

Go for the cabriolet. A rarer car, has a back seat and a real trunk. At $30,000 it might also be negotiable. It's also closer to being an original restoration.

Hopefully the word will go out to any of the local shipping ports to be on the lookout. Those may wind up being sent overseas or maybe across the border to Canada.

Definitely the wrong motor, it's the later flathead. It also has a rumble seat and I consider that wasted space. They are a PIA if you are going to use the car for touring and need to load luggage,...

The 81 is a V-8 60 carb. I used one years ago in my Model A roadster pickup with a B motor. Not easy to find.

Run a want ad on this site for the transmission pan. I'll bet you will get a good used one. Unless Brandley has it "currently" in stock you'll probably never see it in your lifetime.

Remove the bug screen and see what happens. I was told that the nylon can expand when hot and can restrict the airflow.

Do this first. Check all the cables to the battery, and ground cables to the body and motor. Make sure all are clean and tight. if you have an old braided ground cable that shows signs of corrosion...
