Re: 52 Flathead crankshaft end play

I'd think it might be best to remove the ring so it can be heated evenly in an oven, and fully seated. Not sure how to get it off tho, without damage anyway.

Re: 52 Flathead crankshaft end play

I think most S10 T5's used a 9.5" disc

Re: 52 Flathead crankshaft end play

Check that it isn't the PP bolts rubbing on the starter plate.

Re: Disc Brakes V Bendix Brakes-Which performs best??

I should have said no Ford Trucks used self-adjusters until the early 60's. With modern shoes and hardware they can be added to the original brakes.

Re: Disc Brakes V Bendix Brakes-Which performs best??

No self-adjusters until the early '60's, I believe those are F-100 brakes.

I have totally stock type brakes on my F-1. I've driven it cross-county on interstates much of the way, in heavy traffic...

Re: 52 F1 LMC or Dennis Carpenter fenders Reviews

LMC is selling the DC fenders, right?

Re: Speed bleeders for 1949 F1

If you have replaced your wheel cylinders, check the bleeder screw threads carefully. Mine are metric. :-(

Re: 49 F1 Brake issue

Maybe it's the camera, but that whole brake assembly looks rotated to the rear too much. The wheel cylinder should be parallel to the top of the grease shield, too.

Re: The 1BA block Mystery What's the Story ?

The engine that came in my truck (not original) is a 1BA block. The 1BA is cast into the rear of the block, nothing in the valve chamber. It has the cast OP cover, Rotamatic valves, and didn't have...

Re: Help Identifying a Transmission.

'51 was the first full year for column-shifted F-1's. I believe some late '50's were equipped with them, too. All '48-'52 trucks were open drive.

Re: 49 F1 shift pattern

The HD 3-sp is still only syncho'd in 2 and 3 in the Bonus Built trucks. It has a lower 1st gear, too.

I've been surprised how many F-1's came with the crashbox 4-sp, especially common in the...

Re: 49 F1 Clutch problem

Disconnect the throttle pedal (pull hard on the top of the pedal, it mates with a ball on the linkage). Undo a bajillion small screws around the cover, lift off over the shifter and the end of the...

The clutch inspection cover is shown below; there is no trans inspection cover. What exactly do you mean?

Re: current draw king seely gauges

Do you mean the ammeter? It has no effect on that, only oil pressure, gas, and temp gauges.

Re: 8BA Oil Pan Cleanout Plate-For trucks only?

The oil pickup dome takes up almost all the room above the plate. I don't know how you could really measure anything with confidence.

Re: current draw king seely gauges

Each gauge and sender draws about 600 mA, at least on my '52 truck. So peak max draw of 3.6 amps.

I had one like 51-Merc linked to, and could see the voltage regulator cycling on the gauges. I...

Re: 8ba Inlet Manifold Under carb Vacuum.

I had a PCV setup using that vac connection, and opened the two drillings up to 1/8" or 3/16" for better flow. They are really small from the factory.

Re: torque for master cylinder bolt

Depends. I get my washers at NAPA and they are hard as rock. Not sure if they are Dorman or what.

Got to watch out too, our chinese brothers are putting out copper-coated washers, not clear...

Re: dead cylinder on the 53 flathead V8

Almost certainly a stuck valve when you see -0- compression. If you pull the intake manifold, should be able to work on the valve and free it up.

Re: 49 F1 Front Springs

No experience directly with any of those, but I have heard multiple good things about sdtrucksprings. I believe Eaton makes their 43-134-US, which would be a good thing. You can also buy direct from...

Re: New baby 1953 Merc

I'm also of the belief that dual MC's are more problems than solutions. I've never had a single-MC outright fail, it's the rest of the system. Singles will leak long before any serious trouble. On...
