Thanks to all who responded. Ran issue past Steve Becker today. Consensus is that Tom Endy hit the nail on the head,,,New ignition shorted out against tank...Problem solved.....

I would agree that you can bend more angle into the shift lever. However, unless i'm wrong, what you have is a 28/29 shift lever. Rick

Agree with Hitman, it is NOT an original core. No dimples in the fins and I count 28 rows of tubes , not 32 as in an original. And the tank is not original

FYI Go one step farther and look for Filko 75 U Point sets. They show up on ebay once in while. Neat thing is that they have a capacitor attached that eliminates the condenser entirely...Only...
