I have a 28-29 NOS steering wheel that was made backwards. The little nubs for finger grips that are supposed to be on the back facing the gas tank, are actually on the front and you look at them.

when we do ours at the shop we tighten down the nut on the bridge washer as tight as you can possibly make it. We've had good luck doing it that way.
