If you don't drill it too deep when you drill and tap the retaining pin to remove it, you shouldn't need a new one. Like Terry said above, once you get the lock cylinder out there will be a code...

And I would withdraw my guess because I think you hit the nail on the head..:) I thought afterward that my spring and ball retainers had a bigger head on them and the threads were finer.

I think the stop pin being on the wrong side is what would allow the tang to rotate in the opposite direction. If I can find the tang for my disassembled lock I will try it just to see if...

And you would be correct. It is a 1940 Ford Glove box lock.

I think the screws hold the spring and ball in the column drop for the on/off lever. See if you have a short stiff spring and a small...

One way is to get a short section of an old coping saw blade and grind off all of the teeth except one or two. Use this to try and work the broken key out. Be sure...
