I need the pad that goes under the steering wheel horn ring. Any suggestions or how to make one? None of the parts suppliers seem to have one for the Crestliner steering wheel.

Re: Steering wheel play

The locking screw on top of the steering box does not take play out of the steering wheel. You have to loosen the four small bolts on the front of the box and rotate the plate clockwise. Do not make...

Re: Oil Pressure

Flatheads are more about volume than pressure. When mine is hot and idling on a hot summer day it's around 10 psi which is OK.

Re: 1950 Radiator Question

Don't fill the radiator to the top. About one inch over the tank top is plenty and will allow for expansion.

Re: 49 ford clutch chatter

You said you had the flywheel resurfaced. Did you get the flywheel and clutch pressure plate re-balanced as a unit? Very important in my opinion. Also make sure to have them mark the position of...

Re: Electric Fan swap? Advice?

My recommendation for an electric fan is use a puller and not a pusher. Get one with a thermostat. Mine comes on at about 180 degrees and cools fast on those 100 plus days. I run Sierra antifreeze...

Re: DOT3 or DOT5 Brake fluid

I've had dot-5 in my 50 for about 10 years now. The only advice I would pass on is: When you bleed the system, pump the brake pedal very slowly. If you pump it too fast you will get air bubbles in...

I run a 286 CI 8-BA with 20-50 oil. Runs about 50 psi at start up but when hot about 10 psi at idle. Have not had any problems in 10 years or more. I've been told that it isn't about oil pressure...
