I've put 20000 miles on my PowerGen, everything ok by far. I just can't stand the looks of standard GM alternator atop of my flatheads..

Shoes are new and drums are turned and they match widthwise(contact area). Hubs go all the way like they should , that is why I asked if there is different "offset" drums.Looks like backing plates...

Regarding to shop manual , shoes and drums are right width... but they are same in so many years. Maybe there is different dimension hubs on some models/years.
I just hoped that someone has tinkered...

1957 Country Sedan front brakes
Hi guys,
I bet someone can educate me.
I´m checking over new to me ´57 Country Sedan , witch has "brakes overhauled"
Lines are new and internals look new also , but at front I can see linings...

I'm with JackShaft. Rattle can silver witch can handle heat ,both sides of composite gasket.
It absorbs it and if in need gasket is easier to remove. Worked great OT twin turbo V8.

I hate "rap" also , prefer blues....
That "rapp" I was telling was strange, annoying , very sharp tone. None of my flathead hot rods hasn't have that before , but problem on that one is solved ...

I have little different experience. I have full length 1 3/4 exhaust with long Smittys.
There was annoying rapp when accelerating , I thought that it was because of plugged heat risers and unplugged...

And if you end up buying different top frame , search for 1951 one. Its much more rigid and weatherstripping is great compared to -49 or -50. I have one in my -50.

My heavily lowered ´50 with ´53 pan has that system and I have to make adjustments ( a lot) to clear that pan , but I also have lowered king pins and steering arms.
New idler arm is great upgrade.

Maybe it's already covered here but , hot water should go to the lower port of heater core and return hose to upper port . That way heater is always full of coolant and it will blow hot even when...

Problem solved. Rubber was just like original. I just have to stretch that rubber a LOT , so it got thinner and then slide + pound in the glass . Then release the rubber and it expanded locking the...

Thanks for response . Vent windows were easy, because of that setting tape , but for Conv.
door glass is surrounded with that SS framing and glass is kept place with dedicated rubber...

1950 convertible door glass
Hi,all.
Can you educate me... what is the procedure to install new door glass in the stainless frame of the convertible door.
I have the new rubbers but it seems to be impossible to slide the glass...
