Re: Harmon Collins build thread ...

I found a website for Chief Aircraft Parts and they don't show anything with that part number. Can you let us know the application or another part number?

What do you think about hand grinding...

Re: 1932 frame horn covers

And no seam shows on the old pic there. Maybe they found welding up a seam and metal finishing it took too much time.

Re: 1932 frame horn covers

Those swoopy coved covers are neat! What version are they?

Did the single top-bumper covers (early) only come with round holes for the fender?

Re: Help! 59ab oil pan fitment

I removed the baffle from a 59A pan when I fit the 8RT pump and pickup. It also required a slight heat-and-bend of the pickup tube because the screen was touching the bottom of the pan.

Re: Sacrificial Anode

I put a sacrificial anode from the Boatzincs place (like John in Illinois linked) into my flathead about 10 years ago. Last year I checked it and it didn't have any corrosion or erosion on it. It...

Re: Off shore adjustable lifters

Flathead Jack is no more. And it sounds like Johnson's from Gosfast are not gonna be available for a while either: https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=284685

Re: Scraping noise when turning

Can you fit your head under there and look around? See if you can find scraped paint on a suspension part, or the backside of the wheel.

Re: supplier of 1933-34 Ford Windshield Rubber

I've got 14 years on a Dennis Carpenter seal in my 32 sedan. Still looks good. I had first tried a Vintique but the glued corners broke before I could even get the thing stretched all the way...

Re: 1934 U joint lube

Should be a zerk on the clamshell. It will mostly fill the cavity between the clamshell and the torquetube bell, but some will eventually make it's way to the front edge of the bell, then between...

He's just making sure you keep him on staff to use them up on rebuilds. Do you guys do a trade-in deal, or restore my distributor?

Re: Rare Deuce parts thread

Here's some pics. This car had the red repaint in the 50's, but hadn't been touched since then. We turned it into a hot rod in 2006. The only "damage" done was the drilling of 13 holes and some...

Re: Offset piston in a 59 AB

My engine was sandblasted through all the water jacket holes, cleaning the factory sand and aftermarket rust. I can cruise down the interstate at 65 MPH in the summer and it will show about 170...

Re: Mercury Block - Is it Too Far Gone?

To the OP, I'd think if a guy really wanted to he could cut, chip, dissolve all the crud and internal parts out of this block in prep for lots of crack testing and probable sleeves. But, the killer...

Re: Rare Deuce parts thread

I can't post more pics of my sedan. It's a hot rod. You'd all get mad at me.

I can tell you a little about it's "earliness" though. It's a 50,000 serial number car produced in Des Moines Iowa. ...

Re: Rare Deuce parts thread

I've bought some single finger hood hooks from sources you guys would cringe at. Ford didn't hold the patent on those. As posted above, they made it around the world on military vehicles, as well...

Re: Cornhead grease in steering

Over on the HAMB we had a "discussion" about how much cornhead grease was appropriate in these old Ford boxes. I was of the school that fill it up to the plug was good. Others said fill it halfway...

Re: 32 windshield glass install

I used some regular old fashioned setting tape, cut to about 6 inch strips, and taped them crossways over the edge of the glass so I wouldn't need many extra hands as we were lowering the glass into...

Re: 32 Model B Cabriolet steering adjustment

They aren't all just gaskets. Some are shims. Very important to follow the directions for proper adjustment.

I'd also recommend using a 50 Ford F-1 sector seal. Easy to have a machinist do a...

Re: 32 windshield glass install

We just installed a new glass in a 32 5-window windshield frame. I used six strips of setting tape positioned around the frame to keep the glass from contacting the frame. But the sealing was done...

Re: Question: 1940 Ford Radiators.

Even with a new Walker radiator I only use a 7 lb cap on my flathead. If I had an original radiator I'd probably stay at 4lbs. The neck will need to be modified/replaced to accommodate the pressure...

Re: Stock Duece Coupe

http://deuceheaven.com/

There's quite a collection of NICE 32's right up there in Minnesota. We got a tour a couple years ago, and I can say the cars are amazing! Mostly 100 pt restorations, but...
