I removed the baffle from a 59A pan when I fit the 8RT pump and pickup. It also required a slight heat-and-bend of the pickup tube because the screen was touching the bottom of the pan.

Can you fit your head under there and look around? See if you can find scraped paint on a suspension part, or the backside of the wheel.

Even with a new Walker radiator I only use a 7 lb cap on my flathead. If I had an original radiator I'd probably stay at 4lbs. The neck will need to be modified/replaced to accommodate the pressure...
