Re: Using talcum powder with tubes
I used duct tape once. Even though carefully using it, the movement of the tube on turns dislodged it and formed an edge that wore/cut through the tube.

Re: Russian GAZ 66 A deluxe pickup
Since it was a "Deluxe", it came with the stainless passenger shells. Also true for the Town Car Delivery. The pickup supposedly was designed for General Electric. You can Google that though it's...

Re: oil return tube
The two ends are not on the same plane so the likelihood of the shop getting it right is low. So, a leak due to not being flat to the gasket is likely.
You can measure that difference (don't...

Re: Why does it Lean?
It leans because of possibly 90+ years of fatigue with at least a driver but not always a passenger. One of my A's had this. I measured the frame every foot to see if it had the driver side rail...

Re: Preparing for the end.
Several people I respected discussed this at a National Meet around eight years ago. When the majority came up with a age that was about ten years away, I started selling my near-50 year collection...

Re: Fitting a shaft to a distributor
I have encountered odd dimensions and thought to use my expansion reamers. BUT, in the case of a distributor, the only reamer I use is an "alignment" reamer. Just like kingpin bushings, using a...

Re: 1932 Rear Hood Retainer Problem
One of my favorite sites is boltdepot.com. You can get about any diameter and length in various metals. I have used their stainless steel oval heads in trim areas with a little polishing. The neat...

Re: Medal Roof
From where ever, I recall that Ford did not have big-enough presses to stamp car roofs. I "think" 1937 was the first year they made all-steel car bodies.

1957 Thunderbird Heater Hose Routing
Re-doing my engine compartment. I forgot to mark the heater hoses. Where does the top hose at the firewall/heater box go to? The vacuum actuator on the intake manifold or the front of the engine?

Re: Four Post Lift Recommendations….
My main recommendation is the four post lift should have collars around the posts at the end of the crossbars (not inside the posts). If the lift cants for any reason, it could collapse. This is...

Re: Are most repro parts too small?
It appears that your roadster is a Deluxe. Those only came from the factory with an outside mirror on the post. So, whatever was put on the inside could be anybody's guess. Post #11 is spot-on. BTW,...

Years ago I bought a 16' enclosed trailer. My Model A fit but there was no extra room. I sold that one and bought a R & R all aluminum 22 foot enclosed trailer. I made sure the door height was okay...

When they scan, it compares that color to the nearest color in their library. So, yours picked up a BMW color as the nearest. One time I needed Washington Blue for a roadster I was restoring. The...

Re: disturber drive shat
It can be disturber-ing but my intermediate distributor shaft has had surface rust on some of my Model A's. I conclude that it doesn't get oiled other than some oil mist. So, I grease it when...

Did you inquire at Fastenal? Usually good rates for that type of shipment. Finding a private individual going between two specific places may be like winning the lottery. lol
